Does anybody know where the ACA penalty collected will go? I know the IRS will be

responsible for collecting and administering, but that's all I can find. I wonder if there's a special fund and if so will it be used for a particular purpose.

A facebook friend (R) just asked this question. Any help or direction is appreciated. Thank you.

Some time ago, I heard it would be dedicated to Medicaid coverage. Can't find a link now. HopeHoops Jun 2012 #8

if the IRS is involved, they can simply garnish your wages and put liens on your property until the amount is satisfied.

The IRS will only withhold a future tax refund.

There is to be no garnishments or liens.

because the number of people who actually refuse to be covered will be so small.

The people now complaining about the mandate have no intention of dropping their health care insurance for any reason, and the few who do will likely be in need of expanded mental health coverage.

Who in their right mind would allow hospitals to step in and take their assets because of one heart attack? Those who have nothing will already be covered by the ACA.

That sort of pisses me off. That's a major part of the discussion and I can't locate any kind of reliable information on it.
