This is a good piece by Howie, so I'm not really trying to knock him. But he forgot to add that we can barely recognize history when the media glosses it over, covers it up, or distorts it. Today's events and how to respond to them ought to be virtually the one and only topic of mainstream news discussion for months to come; all legislation and other congressional actions (nominations, etc.) ought to be halted until an impeachment verdict is pronounced by the Senate.

"The director of the FBI, with the director of the National Security Agency agreeing at his side, in effect called the president of the United States a liar ― and, oh, by the way, the presidents 2016 campaign indeed is under investigation for allegedly having secretly teamed up with Russia to win the election.
After two months of Donald J. Trumps presidency and more than a year of his campaign, our political senses are so dulled by tumult that we can barely recognize history when we see it. Make no mistake. Mondays hearing was all but unprecedented."
