(40,416 posts)5. I rather like the metaphor that we are climbing out of winter's deep.
The bottom of the analemma is the beginning of winter; the top is the beginning of summer. Here in the Manistee National Forest in rural western Michigan we take these facts very seriously especially in the midst of winter.
Lots of sunlight in June, at the top of the analemma. Dark doesn't happen until near 10PM at this latitude.
