Trump's approval rating dips further as Americans eye key policies

Donald Trump's approval rating has hit a new low, according to the latest Gallup poll.

As of Sunday at 1 p.m. ET, Trump's approval rating has sunk to 37 percent, while those who disapprove of the president's job stands at 58 percent. His approval rating stood at 45 percent one week prior.

The Gallup poll, which measures public opinion and attitudes, and has margin of error of ±3 percentage points, also noted the economic confidence index was down 3 points to 7. Consumer spending was up $16, however, at $111.

Gallup polled about 1,500 adults nationwide.

The latest numbers came as U.S. House Republicans work on changes to the health-care bill that would repeal and replace the Affordable Care Act, better known as Obamacare. Trump has been wooing lawmakers to vote for the bill, according to Reuters.

To the American people on a regular basis?? Jimmy Carter promised to "always tell the truth" and they held him to it. President Clinton was impeached, though nothing he said - or didn't say - put our country in danger. And President Obama endured unprecedented criticism and abuse - yet managed to keep his temper in check and do the job to the best of his considerable ability.

And now we're stuck with a serial liar - with no sense of decorum or history - and he doesn't care. I really do fear for our future. It's only been weeks and the damage he's done has already been considerable - with no end in sight.

That said, welcome to DU, WoonTars! We're glad to have you with us!

our country and the world we live in.

I have to think because the pendulum swung to the most despicable and devastating wing among us for now.. that when it swings back; this will be taken care of in such a way that Fake news & LIES will never prevail again.

That is our goal.. to make America Smart again and never let GO. It will work better if a big part of m$m finally gets in on it, too.

This is just a small part of trumPrevarications..

"Remember?" (Found on FB)

"Remember when the President said he wasn't going to take a salary?
He just accepted his second paycheck.

Remember when he said Mexico was going to pay for the wall?
He has asked Congress to appropriate the $25 billion of taxpayer money to cover costs.

Remember when he said he wasn't going to go on vacation or play golf?
5 of the last 7 weekends he went on vacation and played golf, costing taxpayers $11.1 million.

Remember when he said he was going to use American steel to build these dangerous pipelines?
Russian steel arrived last week for the Keystone Pipeline XL.

Remember when he said he wasn't going to cut social security and Medicare?
The Republican bill does just this.

Remember when he said that nobody on his campaign had any communications with the Russian government?
7 of his people have now admitted they spoke and/or met with Russian officials, after they lied and got caught.

Remember when he said he was going to divest from his businesses?
Changed his mind.

Remember when he said he was going to release his tax returns?
Changed his mind.

Remember when he said he was going to drain the swamp of Washington insiders?
His cabinet is filled with lobbyists, oil and Wall Street executives.

Remember when he said would defeat ISIS in 30 days?
He doesn't have any plan.

Remember when he said that the Obamacare replacement would cover more people at lower cost?
The AHCA that the GOP and 45 are now pushing; they now admit will cover fewer people at a higher cost.

If you voted for him, please hold him accountable to what he promised you - for all of our sakes."

I had a dentist appointment on Thursday, spent less than 10 minutes in the waiting room. I checked into DU on my phone and in that short time I must have read a dozen instances of the next awful thing Trump had done - and I stay up late and watch the news. It totally boggles the mind! What does he have to do to get called on it?? And the press continues to behave as if things were "normal." As I said earlier, they're afraid of losing "access," as if he's going to give them the time of day in any case. I can't imagine anyone of voting age, who's lived through any of the presidents I just mentioned, getting "used to" this!

We seem to have gone from having a person in office who had every single sentence deconstructed and analysed for truth and honesty, to a person that utters bald-faced lies and nothing happens...

Thanks for the welcome.

That horrible budget, Russia stuff coming out, etc but I suppose there are still a bunch of diehard misinformed supporters he hasn't ticked off 'yet'.

Consumer spending up... I'm guessing that might be tax refunds being received and spent. I would think consumer spending would go up yearly at this time of year.
