.
My brother just told me...
Thrifty Kellyanne Conway saves herself money by spending an hour in Closter, NJ's Target.
Of course, the savings on clothing that she was buying for her kids is offset by the taxpayer fees for doing it.
Someone tried to talk to her, in the store, and one SS agent stopped them.
They're blocking traffic now, as someone now is talking to her, who is a supporter.
My brother and sister-in-law both say that she's rather scary looking, as she wears her red coat.
UPDATE: 2 girls, roughly ages 7 & 10, were with them. Both described as rambunctious. While checking out, one of the kids was laying on the floor. They just left at 3:27 PM.

(8,445 posts)If she does online shopping, nobody will see her kid laying on the floor. Seriously, a kid that age laying on the floor of a store? Sounds like some piss poor parenting to me.
Me.

Imma need her to stay away from Closter Plaza.

(6,843 posts)She works for the President whether we like it or not, she gets Security. This does not cause me outrage (except it reminds me she exists). Maybe I am an outlier, I don't see the issue.

(17,865 posts)That was what made it so offensive when the Obamas were criticized for their vacations. Individuals in this position do deserve some semblance of a normal life. It becomes what is reasonable or unreasonable. Occasional shopping trips are reasonable (whether you go to a high end store or Target). Two vacations a year is reasonable. Near weekly trips to Florida is not a reasonable expectation.

(81,599 posts)White House counselors don't need Secret Service protection. Her Secret Service request was probably bogus - based on made-up death threats - and Trump just rubberstamped it.

(14,449 posts)She is the first female to win a major presidential campaign in history. Probably needs the secret service protection. Many don't like females in strong leadership roles.

(18,101 posts)The reason for the protection is probably due to all the threats she receives.

(67,782 posts)If never, it is unprecedented. If you disagree with that assessment, then surely you're aware of someone else in her equivalent position that has, correct?
BTW, I say "equivalent" because each president has his own title for the job.
pintobean
(18,101 posts)that the press knows of, and reports, every secret service detail. I find it extremely unlikely that it's "unprecedented". The fact that we don't know that something has happened before doesn't mean it hasn't.

(6,843 posts)Seriously, if we were doing a Yearbook I would definitely vote KellyAnn most likely to receive death threats.

(67,782 posts)The immediate families of the above individuals
Former Presidents and their spouses for their lifetimes (except when the spouse divorces or remarries), under the Former Presidents Act. From 1997 until 2013, legislation became effective limiting Secret Service protection to former Presidents and their spouses to a period of 10 years from the date the former President leaves office. President Barack Obama signed legislation reversing this limit and reinstating lifetime protection on January 10, 2013.[5][6][7]
The widow or widower of a former President who dies in office or dies within a year of leaving office for a period of one year after the President's death (the Secretary of Homeland Security can extend the protection time)
Children of former Presidents until age 16 or 10 years after the presidency
Former Vice Presidents, their spouses, and their children under 16 years of age, for up to 6 months from the date the former Vice
President leaves office (the Secretary of Homeland Security can extend the protection time)
Visiting heads of states or governments and their spouses traveling with them
Other distinguished foreign visitors to the United States and official representatives of the United States performing special missions abroad, as directed by the President
Major presidential and vice presidential candidates[8]
The spouses of major presidential and vice presidential candidates (within 120 days of a general presidential election)
Other individuals as designated per executive order of the President
National Special Security Events, when designated as such by the Secretary of Homeland Security
My guess is the highlighted one may apply, meaning the trump administration is willing to starve senior citizens and watch Americans die in Emergency Rooms to pay for Ms. Beavis' protection while she shops at Target.
Ridiculous.
