I think we need to consider a parliamentary type approach regarding anti-Trump Republicans.

The fact of the matter is we can't expect people like McCain, Graham or Snowe to break ranks and defect to the Democrats over a dissatisfaction with Trump. And frankly if they did, it's not like we'd get much other than a boost in numbers, as they probably wouldn't even rise to Manchin type levels.

John McCain's always going to be the same cranky old hawk he's always been. Ditto for Graham. But that's not to write them off as useless. Far from it. Their cooperation is going to be invaluable if we want to rid this country of the cancerous Madman at the helm.

I think the problem is the traditional two-party dualistic system that governs Washington politics. That thought process is hindering when it comes to the opposition. A better approach for the limited purposes of the mission would be to consider a European style parliamentary approach.

Most European countries don't have a two-party system. They'll have four, five, six or more major political parties, and in order to form a government, coalitions must be built between various parties. Often times, the parties that ally will vary differently on a large host of issues, but because no one party can form a majority government, those differences are put aside for the sake of leadership.

Here, we don't need to form a coalition with the anti-Trump Republicans on all things. We shouldn't be expected to do that. And we're not in a parliamentary system, so it's not a matter of forming a government. It's simply a matter of removing a clear and present danger that is currently sitting in the White House.

Congressional Democrats need to expressly form a limited coalition with the anti-Trump Republicans for matters only concerning Trump. That's the only way he's going to be booted from office at this point in time. If once Trump is removed those anti-Trump Republicans want to throw in all their loyalty back to President Pence, well, good luck to him. Pence is going to be damaged goods if Trump is impeached and we can better deal with that situation than the current one were in.

But the primary objective of all things in this country is to get the Madman Donald Trump removed from office. From that all other things flow. That's not saying we shouldn't be paying attention to matters such as the dismantling of healthcare or government agencies like the EPA, but that's going to flow from the head of the snake. And we need to cut off the head.
