I'm new to DU, want to start out on the right path and feel the need to apologize for my home state producing the likes of Scott Walker, Reince Priebus and Paul Ryan...please forgive us Wisconsinites! We're not all assholes....

(115,806 posts)There was also our loathsome ex-governor Tim Pawlenty (who, thankfully, has returned to obscurity), and now there's a new Congressman, Jason Lewis, a minor-league Rush Limbaugh-style former hate radio host. They're everywhere.
Wisconsin did produce Ed Gein and Jeffrey Dahmer, though. We can't top that.

(86,743 posts)I once lived in the great state of Wisconsin, it has changed so much politically! Good grief. My mom is from Wisconsin and I still have some relatives there!

(11,949 posts)If not, stop with the whole apology thing. I detest apologies by, I don't know, association? Like because my family came here from France 300 years ago I should apologize for the Terror of the French Revolution?
Stop it.
Are you doing anything to defeat them. That is the question.
And, again, welcome to DU. I am not usually this brusque with anyone, but now is not the time for navel gazing. It is the time to work. I was actually on the other side not that long ago and I guess I should apologize for a whole lot of my votes. But what would that accomplish?
I hope you stick around.

(7,349 posts)Always wondered 45 was campaigning in all the little, rural areas...Clinton never even came, just assumed she'd take it. We went Sanders/Cruz in the primaries....who figured!

(131,052 posts)and 'sadly' you confirm a point of view I arrived at months ago, after the election and reading lots of stuff and I hope DEARLY the Democratic candidates and party will recognize and address: 'Clinton never even came, just assumed she'd take it. We went Sanders/Cruz in the primaries....who figured!'

(5,240 posts)endlessly, but the always moralizing "real American" midwestern Republican voters don't care. I don't get it, how can they overlook how vile Walker, and the rest of the state republican reps. are?

(5,619 posts)We have our share of cretins, jerks and wackos in Oregon as well, and I've been allowed to post here. We have, for example, Lars Larson broadcasting his filth from Portland, and Bill O'Reilly was once a newscaster in Portland.

(9,313 posts)Hey, don't feel bad. The adult population of Wisconsin (about 4 million) breaks down something like this (roughly):
35% assholes (1.4 million DT voters)
35% definitely NOT assholes (1.4 million Clinton voters)
I imagine the other 30% are the usual mix of disenchanted/overwhelmed/apathetic folk from across the asshole spectrum.
There are far more "assholish" places to live!! (And our hearts go out to all the rational people in those states.)

(901 posts)my state has produced the likes of the Green River Killer and Ted Bundy. Ewwww.... That's also the sort of behavior that trump engages in -- he blames all Muslims for the horrific crimes of a tiny minority, and his followers either demand mass apologies or just want to boot all of them from our country.

(3,208 posts)Missourian here, but my sister moved to Madison in the early 80s, so I have been there many, many times! We were there for the March 2011 protests about Walker. Thought for sure this mess was going to turn around then, but there are a lot of voters in WI that are nothing like the folks I have seen in Madison!
