I see why Alec is tired of it. Probably a good thing for SNL to switch it up a bit.

You don't have a big name guest star play a presidential candidate on your show (Alec Baldwin as Trump; Larry David as Sanders) if you think there's any chance that your show is actually going to have to have someone portray him in skits as the president for the next four years - a big star is going to tire pretty quickly of performing live on Saturday night at 11:30 pm on a regular basis - it was inevitable that they were going to have to eventually transition the Trump role to one of their regular cast members.
