http://www.cnn.com/2017/03/08/health/obamacare-cancer-survivor/I shouldn't but I do get angry. The woman is a republican trump voter, ran as a republican for political office last year, signed up for ACA to get her cancer treated, and says she is still a republican.
I need her to turn the other cheek because I am not.

(2,037 posts)And hypocrisy - especially the brazen, even inhuman kind one sees so often in our Republican friends - does that to all good people.

(38,439 posts)tenth of a clue...about the role of government in life..Why should the government get involved in this and in that??? stay out of private businesses.....................Here are some facts....you can check this out at a number of locations, and they are totally true....
in 1979 there were approximately 53,000 deaths on the highway..... about 200,000,000 in USA
last year....after the government,,,,(federal government..you know which one)..got involved in requiring safety belts, air bags, crumple zones...improved safety features on highways, extra warning lights on cars, back seat belts, side impact airbags..etc, etc. etc.....ok? got it??? lots of safety stuff...on cars & highways...
last year, 2016, there were approximately 33,000 deaths on the highway 40 per cent reduction........although.............approximately 130,000,000 more people in the country and millions of more cars on the highways

The article states that "Her biggest objection remains the mandate that individuals must obtain health insurance coverage."
So we have another Ryan type idiot who doesn't understand how insurance works. Only difference is, Ryan will not lose his health insurance, and she very likely will

(2,559 posts)It was only when she was threatened with a potentially fatal health crisis that she began to appreciate Obamacare.
The anger you feel is probably because it shouldn't have to take millions threatened with a health death sentence in order to get the votes to craft and approve true universal health care, which now is clearly the ONLY solution that will answer the needs of people like Tiffany Koehler and millions more with various chronic and acute health problems that must be addressed.
Is the Republican Party as a whole capable of realizing this fact? That the very very rich need to pay a little more of a tiny fraction of their wealth to help the very poor and very sick? That universal health care is a direct implementation of the "general welfare" clause of the Constitution?
I hope so. Perhaps it will happen, some day. But more than likely it will take the GOP falling flat on its face trying to craft a replacement for the ACA, and millions of patients and seniors rising up in rebellion against the tyranny of unrestrained health care conservatism, before the one party that truly honors the constitutional mandate to promote the General Welfare regains power in DC.
