(54,426 posts)So, for two weeks, there are only 5 hours difference between here and the East Coast, and 6 hours between here and Dallas.
It won't make a big difference, except knowing that while I take morning tea, Trump is still up tweeting something stupid

(15,370 posts)But I am supposed to call my granddaughter at 10 am her time today, so I am very glad of the reminder that PDT is now only eight hours difference instead of nine!
Assuming that Trump will not have closed the borders and declared war on the world by then, she and her mom will be coming to visit here in Switzerland this summer.

(54,426 posts)But they might not be allowed back in again. Make sure they don't say, "Grüezi" when they get to CBP on the way back.

(15,370 posts)there will be some major fireworks, believe me. Just as Trump's travels bans are patently unconstitutional for the most part, that most certainly would be. Both are natural-born US citizens and have lived there all their lives.
But, even so, it could work out for the best if they were deported back to a point of origin. They're traveling via Air Canada through Montreal. My DIL has already mentioned that she'd love to stay in Canada!
If to Switzerland, I'd apply for asylum here for them - I'm a permanent resident in good standing - and try to see whether I could find my DIL a job teaching in one of the international schools here.
My DIL is an outstanding primary school teacher and good teachers may soon be an endangered species in the US, along with scientists and Democrats.

He just COULD NOT GET IT!
I used a visual aid and it finally dawned on him how it worked.
Took over an hour to get it explained!

But my body protests against the change 2x a year, takes me a week or more to adjust my sleep schedule.
Interestingly, I know there used to be "war time" during WWII....haven't checked to see if that is same as DST now.....

(9,457 posts)it's one of the only things that's done right here.
I used to live there.
The AZ legislature and affiliated horrors drove me nuts.
But they got it right on daylight saving time.
Was so pleased when Sonora stuck with standard time, too, despite pressure from rest of Mexico.
I've read that New Mexico also has been contemplating bailing from the daylight saving time silliness. If so, then maybe Navajo County would join the rest of Arizona, too. (Last I heard, they were the only county in AZ to do daylight saving time, to keep their reservation in the time zone across state boundaries. Is this still true?)

(4,545 posts)I actually look forward to this one (spring forward) because it seems to work better with my circadian rhythms. I feel better. If given a choice between Standard or Daylight Savings Time permanently, I'd choose DST!

He would have wasted it tweeting nonsense, but it's still a good thing.
