First, many of these people are wealthy. They are wealthy enough that if all forms of healthcare was eliminated they would still be able to take care of their own and their families.
However
These are people that believe in the value of the fetus. It's all about that unborn child and making there absolutely NOTHING stands in the way of allowing the unfertilized egg find it's way to the fastest swimming sperm. To ensure this happens they make sure our children do not learn about proper use of birth control and hope that snappy slogans will keep 2 horny teenagers from having sex. They make reliable forms of birth control hard to access, expensive to buy and sometimes behind the counter of a pharmacist who thinks they can play god. So with no birth control and no education on how to properly use what's over the counter, women have to rely on the prayer method "Dear God please let him pull out in time" but if an unplanned pregnancy happens there are still very few options. If we know right away it's difficult to access emergency contraception or once again there's an overly righteous pharmacist blocking our access. An getting access to an abortion, especially if you do not live in a populated area, can be difficult to almost impossible. If you could find a place for an abortion you'll have to go thru the public shaming of the protesters outside the clinic. In a nutshell if you're a woman and your fertile the GOP wants your pregnant.
So you have your baby because what other choice do you have. But once that baby is born what options do you have? If you or your family has money you're fine. If you're poor you're screwed. Options for low cost pre-natal care such as Planned Parenthood are being eliminated by many governments so for the poor, many times they just have to hope for the best. And once the child is born if there are any health issues it could be a lifetime issue because healthcares offer caps and may even deny the child healthcare because of those pre-existing conditions. And there are people that scorn you for being poor and with child. They think you're lazy and feeding off the teat of the government but what options do you have? Daycare is expensive and jobs available may not pay enough to cover it along with food, shelter and healthcare that probably wasn't included with the job.
So in a nutshell, unless you come from a family with financial means it's damned if you do and damned if you don't.
NOW, don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that Abortion should be used as a form of birth control. Personally, I think if you want to decrease the number of abortions you simply need to increase the money spent on proper sex education and access to affordable birth control. It's that simple.
But if the GOP wants to create this world where all fetuses make it to full term then they can't go around taking away the healthcare needed so when that fetus is born it has access to the type of healthcare that will give the child a long happy healthy life.
To me the GOP are a giant bunch of hypocrites.

(2,405 posts)I truelly don`t believe they give a rats ass about non white babies or even poor folks white babies . IMHO they want to take birth control away from white "christian" ladies, pop those babies out to contribute to the base.

(31,532 posts)The RWer's love the fetus, but not so much the child. As long as they can protect that fertilized egg, embryo or fetus, and shame any woman who doesn't want to carry it, they have done the godly duty. Making sure it has what it needs after birth to thrive is not their problem, 'cause yanno, god helps those who help themselves. If it goes hungry or homeless is not their concern.
