Could Trump be using his claim against President Obama as a ticket for a fishing expedition?

I'm genuinely confused about why Republicans would go forward with hearings on Trump's Obama/phone tap claim if way down deep they believe it's not true. Republican "leaders" usually go out of their way to make excuses for, cover for Trump. If these were secret hearings, I could understand, but they're going to be public. It doesn't seem like Trump is going to come out smelling like a rose.

Is it reasonable to think Trump was using his phone tap allegations as a way to fish around and see if anyone in the government was onto him? Maybe he thought some Republican would ask around in private and get info not available to the public.

I don't believe Trump wanted this to be public.

For some reason I can't quite figure this out.

5. How long before the various agencies say "there is no evidence"? Implying Trump committed libel.

And is unfit in the legal sense to remain in office. I see a HUGE misfire.

to a President's power and clearly does not understand what it means to have grace, which Obama has in spades.

Heck, just look at the clowns he surrounded himself with!

A players attract A players. B players attract C players.
In the case of Trump, we are down to X, Y, and Z.

Although Trump is probably not that smart, nor that strategic in his thinking. It might be something Bannon would attempt.

However, I'm no fisherman, but I'm pretty sure that if you're going to fish with a grenade, it would be wise to throw it farther from the boat.
