(25,816 posts)Trump wants to take money from the Coast Guard budget to offset
the obscene cost of the wall. The Coast Guard patrols far more US
border than the one with Mexico. And reduce airport security budgets?
It makes zero sense.
I have two sons in the Coast Guard.

A former Trump University student wants to drop out of a recent $25 million class action settlement and take President Trump to trial.
Class member Sherri B. Simpson filed her objection to the November settlement on Monday, a move that could delay or endanger the entire pact, lawyers said.

Anyway, I always try to keep Trump University in mind when talking to a fuckhead, because it is not something they can explain away or justify or say that it depends on one's point of view or any of that ....

He has re-implemented the Global Gag Rule aka Mexico City Policy that bars any U.S. funding for foreign non-governmental organizations (NGOs) that use their own, non-U.S. funds to offer abortion services, or even to offer counseling or referrals related to abortion, or political advocacy around the issue of abortion. Its a cruel, counterproductive policy that has cut off funding to some of the most experienced, effective aid groups in the world. And Trump made it worse. In the past, the Gag Rule has been applied to U.S. family planning funding; Trumps version, however, expands the restrictions to all global health funding.Groups working to fight HIV/AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria, the Zika virus, and other emerging threats are all at risk. Even global nutrition and child survival programs will be faced with the same dilemma family planning providers have always confronted under the Gag Rule. Will they refuse the restrictions and lose their funding? If they do agree to the restrictions, can they even function effectively?
He appointed Tom Price to head the Health and Human Services Dept. As a congressman, he voted multiple times to defund Planned Parenthood. He has voted in favor of so-called personhood amendments, which grant rights to fertilized eggs. He has publicly insisted that before the ACAs birth control benefit, literally not one woman had trouble affording birth control. And hes an ardent opponent of the ACA more generally.
He has nominated Judge Neil Gorsuch to the Supreme Court. During his campaign, Trump explicitly promised to appoint justices who would overturn Roe v. Wade, and theres every reason to believe that Gorsuch would vote to do exactly that. He has a troubling history on reproductive rights, including an opinion in the Hobby Lobby case that went even further than the eventual Supreme Court ruling. He has written that its reasonable to consider the use of birth control as wrongful conduct. ((cuckcoo! cuckcoo!))
the House of Representatives passed H.R. 7, the so-called No Taxpayer Funding for Abortion and Abortion Insurance Full Disclosure Act of 2017, which would essentially end insurance coverage for abortion in the United States. The bill codifies the Hyde Amendment and permanently bans abortion coverage for women on Medicaid, military women, and federal employees. It bans abortion coverage from any plan offered under the ACA exchanges and even penalizes employers who offer abortion coverage in workplace plans.
While H.R. 7 isn't Trump's doing, Trump has pledged to make the so-called Hyde Amendment permanent, and he is virtually certain to sign such legislation.

He's also in favor of the American Health Care Act (AHCA) which does away with the ACA's free contraceptives mandate. It also defunds Planned Parenthood.
As a candidate, he at one point suggested women should face criminal punishment if they had an abortion.

As for what he plans to do with the CFPB -- the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau -- I'll have to look that up, but it's not good.

(32,086 posts)I mean, his sons are openly bragging about how much money they have made since he took office. Hell, NBC just reported this morning that his daughter's profits on her clothing line have soared since Kellyanne Conjob gave her that free advertising. Those fuckers treated this as if it was okay, too. The same goes for his trips down to his country club in Florida every week, and the bullshit surrounding his properties everywhere. They're normalizing it, and it's fucking disgusting.
