(4,835 posts)When both parties stood for particular things and it was a philosophical difference.
Now that we have Fox News, Rush etc. The republicans don't even need an agenda. If the democrats are doing it, it's wrong, if the republicans are doing it, it's right.
Even if it's the same action.

know where this came from and about questionable "comments" of poster. JPR really does allow our closet rightwingers free reign on edit: as in ideologically sucking up to the new rulers of ameriKKKa reigning/rein as in freedom...gotcha. Have a good one

(18,124 posts)I heard it the other day in a lecture on rightwing moles posing as progressives and liberals but subtly changing the argument around to the the current RACIST, FASCIST point of view and defending it. I know EXACTLY what it means!!!!!!!!!!!! I am everywhere in this academic bubble I live in listening to a lot of arguments to gain ammunition for the war I am in.
Now you explain to me what you think I meant.
truebluegreen
(9,033 posts)that everyone who doesn't wholehearted support the Democratic Party must be a closet rightwinger.
Seems to me that simplistic framing is in fact common to the right wing ("with us or agin' us!). But you heard it the other day in a lecture so I guess it must be true.

(18,124 posts)but well worth looking into. I deemed it so. Us vs them, all RW/RC thinking vs liberal/progressive thinking. Just like those hurling the line..."give the trumpvoter a break, it's much more complicated than making ameriKKKa white again". No it isn't. Pretty simple actually. And while I have to put up with RC thinkers in my Party. I DO NOT have to like them or trust them. As long as they vote for inclusivity, justice and liberty for all...that's all I can expect. Have a good one.... backatcha

although I get your intent. You are transparent....but what's to expect from...well you get the idea maybe... Sad that superior thinkers these days are not so superior in an obviously ........well you being a superior thinker, you know what I mean. Have a good one.ON EDIT: I plan to take copies of this to my local university and it's very competent language department-looks like eastern european writing of some type and I have friends that own a very eclectic, independent, progressive bookstore who will put me on the right path in understanding this superior thinking. Thanks glad to have to learn something new. Keep this 69 year old mind working, you have....

(24,461 posts)And as for third parties . . . . .
One thinks anarcho-capitalists have some good points.
The other, while having some good ideas, is led by a Putin inner circle whack-a-loon.
Sorry, but the Democratic Party really needs to get on board with Universal Health Care and FAST. If you can pay for war and wealthy people, you can pay for health. "But we don't . . . but we can't . . . but America is . . . " FUCK OFF with that shit. This is the 21st Century. ACT LIKE IT.
Fantastic Anarchist
(7,309 posts)Uggggh ... they don't realize their own inherent contradiction. Anarchists believe in a non-hierarchical, classless, stateless society. Anarcho-capitalists believe in unbridled capitalism (read: not a true and fair free-market), which is antithetical to anarchism. They are trying to bastardize the term which has its origins in the original socialist movement (the non-Marxist or non-state form of socialism).

(24,461 posts)The only thing "anarchy" they want is for "ME ME ME" to run everything . . . including, scarily enough, police and defense. Also, they don't want any commie notion of sharing even one red cent.
It's a logical hilarity . . . kind of like Libertarianism itself.

(90,798 posts)How are Dems to move money from one pot to another in the budget without a whacking great majority in Congress? How in gods' name does that wishlist get fulfilled? Even Amazon.com wants a credit card number.
Hillary -- and the ideas she espoused in great detail to anyone who would listen or read -- got 3 million more votes than the Trojan Horse, and yet here we are.
No wonder the guy at the Dem booth looks discouraged. He's grown old and tired trying to do the right thing. Does he look rich and entitled to you?

(8,322 posts)the "Democrat" as old, white, male, and fatigued, while the "Republican" is the same except for the exhausted part? Passivity replaced with high aggression and agitation?
The message we all get, the one the GOP regularly sends to women who dare speak up on their own behalf -- or for a better world -- is clear but I'm not sure the poor lady trembling back over to the slouchy, condescending Dem is the outreach effort the party would wish to have shown. Even in satire.
Course it's just a toon; maybe shouldn't read too much into it.
