A big part of recovering from living with ppl who are so malevolent is learning-- really learning-- that you can't make them better people.

Learn to draw boundaries and stick to ultimatums.
That's something we all could stand to learn.

How DARE he insult President Obama! He must have a guilty conscience or something. And that's only one of a long list of reasons.

I don't think he did it in the manner that you are trying to imply. I believe he did his due diligence to "pass the torch" as it was passed on to him by Shrub and then let the chips fall where they may. I expect there is some manual or set of guidelines that Presidents have that they follow when making the transition.

Meanwhile he had already gathered and preserved evidence that was available against Drumpf's campaign and anything related to the Russian hacking, etc. - https://www.nytimes.com/2017/03/01/us/politics/obama-trump-russia-election-hacking.html

The "show their people around" is most like (probably 99%) "by the book" (from an actual published set of guidelines).

When you work in the federal government (as I have for decades), there is usually an employee "handbook" of some kind. I expect that for something as sophisticated as the Office of the President, the same exists. It has to. The functions in there are so massive that this is why they have GSA work with a President-elect's transition team to lease and set up the "transition" office space well before the inauguration, and usually beginning the plans for the move-in process just post-election. so that all the nitty gritty details can be worked out.

There was a fascinating radio show on WTOP back in the fall of 2008 just after the election that described the process and interviewed someone from GSA to talk about it. In Drumpf's case, THAT is what Crispy Cream was in charge of until he was unceremoniously booted.

Eventually people "see" the more "formal" (somewhat staged) "showing around" bit when the media is invited in to film it. But I would not read anything into that.

Yes he and Michelle were "gracious" but I guarantee you that what they did was "by the book" and regardless of the ignorant response to that by his successor, I doubt that any of what they did was "personal" nor would they take any insults from him as "personal". If anything, they are probably laughing their asses off but they did try to make sure to dot the "i"s and cross the "t"s before they left.

For one thing, people who are "smart" - (intelligence comes in many forms; I just meant people with some knowledge/talent) - generally know their limits. Know what they don't know.

Trump was born into great wealth, so naturally he thinks he's good at everything.

..."generally know our limits" It is part of the growing up thing...

So I am a good writer, if I work at it enough, but I stink in math..Some complexities are way beyond me, and some I understand. Not only is Trump not good at everything...he is good at very little...and he doesn't have a clue about that..

I am good at writing, raising funds, that sort of thing. I took math classes and did my best. I worked very hard to do well in math. It is not my strength.

I have worked hard to understand other things that are not my strengths. Presidents have to do much more than that! And for things they do not understand, they hire experts. They put them in the State Department, HUD, Homeland Security, and other places. That is why Presidents have advisors and cabinet departments.
