COMEY IMPLICITLY SAYS DRUMPF IS A DEPLORABLE AND DISGUSTING PIECE OF LYING TRASH

WASHINGTON — The F.B.I. director, James B. Comey, asked the Justice Department this weekend to publicly reject President Trump’s assertion that President Barack Obama ordered the tapping of Mr. Trump’s phones, senior American officials said on Sunday. Mr. Comey has argued that the highly charged claim is false and must be corrected, they said, but the department has not released any such statement.

Mr. Comey made the request on Saturday after Mr. Trump leveled his allegation on Twitter. Mr. Comey has been working to get the Justice Department to knock down Mr. Trump’s claim because there is no evidence to support it and it insinuates that the F.B.I. broke the law, the officials said.

A spokesman for the F.B.I. declined to comment. Sarah Isgur Flores, the spokeswoman for the Justice Department, also declined to comment.

A statement by the Justice Department or Mr. Comey refuting Mr. Trump’s allegations would be a remarkable rebuke of a sitting president, putting the nation’s top law enforcement officials in the position of questioning the truthfulness of the government’s top leader. The situation underscores the high stakes of what the president and his aides have set out by accusing the former president of a conspiracy to undermine Mr. Trump’s young administration.

been stated by several dems

he's doing this because there's no other plausible position available

the REASON for FISA is what Nixon did, basically. no president in his right mind, if you know what I mean, would try to pull this garbage, and comey is well aware of this.

no risk for him to come out and appear like a truthseeker

pure theater

he's the MAIN reason trump 'won' the election. never forget that. right down at the bottom of the barrel with sandra day oconnor

That being said It puts Drumpf's lie to bed.

BTW, I started a thread that even a legal wiretap of Drumpf would have been fraught with risk and consequently makes it unlikely the Obama DOJ would have sought one.

the followers will trumpet this to their dying day, just as most of them STILL believe all trump's birther nonsense, which is the KEY to establishing this throng of braindead loons who buy into the con of cons' line of never-ending bullshit

it may stop twitler from going any further, but just watch how long it takes the outcry from the crack farms to dry up. bet it takes more than a little time for that

I do not trust Comey ever to just do the right thing and set the record straight, even though I never had a moment's doubt that Obama had nothing to do with wiretapping 45. That is why I lean towards the idea that Comey sees the handwriting on the wall and is actually moving towards normalizing the GOP establishment with Pence in charge. -- I'm not sure which is worse, either.

I trust the professionals around 95%. The appointees around 70% altho Comey may lower that number considerably.

This is the whole reason that the repuglicans (and their clown-boy president) are trying to eviscerate the government. Get rid of the professionals and replace them with Liberty University (remember the Ashford DoJ?) and other RWobots.

If Trump were to fire him at this time, he will spill all the beans.

He would still like a little more time to tie the loose ends together but he has the evidence he needs right now, in my opinion.

Otherwise, why would he ask the Justice Dept to reject Trump's assertion about Obama? The AG is his boss. He can be fired at any time.

He didn't want to be held responsible for remaining silent.

The question is....what will the justice dept do?.....if it remains silent, will Comey publicly speak out....That is why this leaked, because he was afraid to do this directly.

In addition to being concerned about potential attacks on the bureau’s credibility, senior F.B.I. officials are said to be worried that the notion of a court-approved wiretap will raise the public’s expectations that the federal authorities have significant evidence implicating the Trump campaign in colluding with Russia’s efforts to disrupt the presidential election
.

SO they still have nothing.

He explicitly stated that Obama did nothing of the kind. When the FBI director stares down the U.S. Justice Dept. and tells them to refute what the orange shitgibbon stated as truth, he's telling them to state unequivocally that Obama had nothing to do with the FISA wiretaps.
