I am not sure I have my dates right but I believe that the PGA golf tournament today had been played FOR YEARS at Doral CC in Florida. Donald Trump bought that golf course a few years ago and renovated. It looks like the PGA tour dropped Doral after many many years and now is playing that tournament in MEXICO CITY for the 1st time.

If I am wrong let me know. I believe I heard that Doral was NO LONGER on the rota. Anyway this is the 1st time any PGA tour event has been played in Mexico as far as I remember. And I have been playing golf for 61 years.

They have played a PGA tour event in Playa del Carmen for a decade. I am not sure this is a PGA Tour event or an affiliated touenament. It is a WGC event.

16. FYI Poa Ana Grass Is The Most Difficult Grass To Putt On.

Poa grows very fast and even a little growth makes it very jumpy to putt on with short putts. You almost have to modify your method to hold the line on shortish putts. It usually drove me batty when I played on it.

In December 2015, the PGA Tour stated that it was considering moving the tournament to a different location in 2017, due in part to controversy surrounding comments made by Trump National Doral operator Donald Trump during his successful presidential campaign. On June 1, 2016, the Tour announced that the event would move to Mexico City in 2017

"I just heard that the PGA Tour is taking their tournament out of Miami and moving it to Mexico," Trump said. "It's at Doral ... they used one of my places. They're moving their tournament; it's the Cadillac World Golf Championship. And Cadillac's been a great sponsor, but they're moving it to Mexico.

"They're moving it to Mexico City, which, by the way, I hope they have kidnapping insurance," Trump added.

Trump was supposed to host a new event at his Palos Verdes Trump National golf course. It would take the 4 winners from the PGA major events (or top 4 ranked players if one player won multiple majors), and pit them in a winner-take-all "5th major" as Trump wanted to call it.

The PGA agreed to the idea, and Trump had already done massive renovations to the course so the PGA could hold a televised event there. If you ask me, I think they absolutely destroyed the course. Removed a ton of trees (for bleachers and standing galleries around the tees and greens). Tore down 2 great waterfalls that were behind two greens (the cascading water made too much noise for the cameras said the PGA).

Then Trump goes...well, Trump. He calls Mexicans rapists and murderers. PGA calls off the event, and says they can't be associated with his bigotry.

So the PGA has hammered him a few times for his stupidity. I hope it sets an example for others.
