General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsI think Donald Trump is very afraid at this moment.
I think he knows that the lid's about to blow off, and he's scrambling to raise some sort of smoke screen with his tweets, ect. But, there's so much he doesn't know. He knows that he's vulnerable and that there is stuff out there that would end his presidency, but he doesn't know who knows what and when it will become public.
He is acting like someone who is on the edge of panic due to fear of what is unknown. He knows what he's trying to hide, and just can't be sure if someone already has that information or not. I'm sure he's quite beside himself, which is why he's hiding out at Mar-a-Lago this weekend, once again.
Trump is afraid that it's all about to crumble down around him, and he has no clue when or how to prevent the collapse.
We may be on the verge of something, but I'm not certain yet exactly what it is. Watch the headlines and breaking news.

He really is as dumb as a box of rocks when it comes to how governing works. Plus, he is way too stubborn to let anyone who knows how it all works take a wag at enlightening him on a few things. Conservative-leaning/DC-insider Politico has an article about what seems an ongoing "obsession" with Obama. 45's stream-of-consciousness comments apparently circle back, or zag straight over to him unusually often as it seems to observers.

As a heads up that the proverbial cat is about to escape the bag ...
However.... 45 may not know which cat /bag .... as there are likely multiple possibilities...
It would not surprise me if part of the plan is/was to find & eliminate any records/documents/departments that may have been collecting info on Trumps business activities & partners for years...
As well as get rid of any employees with knowledge of such "investigations"....
By bringing in all of his billionaire buddies... they would all have access to sensitive data &aplenty of opportunities to "clean up" ...
if any "enemies" tried to investigate then Jeff B sessions was going to be there to shoot down all claims & perhaps even proactively incriminate enemies just to get them out of the way/ force them to resign or desist ....
he likely thought...
Surely, once he was crowned king
None of the Agencies would ever consider charging him or his cabinet members with crimes....

It's all about the attention. The tweets, the extreme appointments and proposals. Even criticism feeds his ego because he is so sure of himself that he responds with some foolish tweet that he is probably very certain will be respected.
I think if I am correct, he would welcome impeachment as theater. Months of hearings and a long drawn out trial so that everyday the focus is on him. No matter how it ended, he would never believe he was wrong and would sit back and enjoy the attention and pleasure in being a significant and unforgotten president.

Schiff, in particular, has already formed a conclusion. He is seeking access to the evidence to prove it publicly. And, he has tacitly implied that if the FBI (Comey) doesn't cooperate, he will go to the media.
Trump is scared because he knows if he was wiretapped, they caught some incriminating things on HIM and not just his associates.

That's very worrisome for The Donald, since he has relied on Putin and Putin's people to help him know what to do. Putin appears to have clammed up and is keeping his own council right now. I doubt there is any communication going on.
If I were The Donald, I'd be worried about whether his good friend, Vlad, is unhappy with him right now. When Putin isn't happy, he tends to do things people can't recover from. if I were the Donald, I wouldn't let anyone connected with Russia anywhere near just now.

(25,861 posts)I'm with those who say he's incapable of being afraid. He's a narcissist. The entire world revolves around them. No one else is fully human for them.
He's probably pissed that people aren't believing him about all this stuff (no one met with Russians, Obama tapped his phones) because he's like a very small child: if he says something, it's true. It's also important to keep in mind that pretty much his entire life no one has ever said no to him, so he's gotten away with everything. If he actually is someday marched off in handcuffs and an orange jumpsuit that matches his hair, he still won't be afraid. He's be very, very angry, and will spew all sorts of vile nonsense about being framed and betrayed, but he won't be afraid.
His panic, if that's what he's experiencing, is because not everyone is kow-towing to him, especially those outside his small circle. He wants everything to go back to what it was on Election Night, when he became the next President, and believed that meant he could do anything and everything he wants, without fear of contradiction or pushback. But the pushbacks came pretty quickly, and the contradictions (calling out various lies) just as fast. What he probably wants is to punish those who stand in his way, and we see that quite clearly in various statements and tweets.

(11,095 posts)Trump is used to calling the shots and getting his own way. He never has to face consequences and never has to answer to anyone....for anything. He buys his way out, bullies his way out, lies his way out, and there is always someone else to blame. He faces nothing. He takes responsibility for nothing negative and everything positive.
He makes people sign loyalty oaths, and expects adoration and conformity from those around him.
Think about how low he's willing to go if anyone challenges him. He'll mock a disabled reporter, demean a Gold Star family, use a Navy Seal's widow for his own benefit, disparage entire groups of people, lie every hour of every day. His goal is to always be #1. Always. And, he keeps people around him that he can count on to make that happen.
I don't think Trump is smart enough to be afraid. At least for now, he probably figures he's too important to have to answer to anyone or any institution....as long as he continues to call the shots.
