This is why attacking establishment Democrats has never been my bag, baby. When shit gets tough, and we need protection From Folks like the Tangerine Terror, it is always Dems like Maxine Waters who use their power to fight against fascists like Trump. I am Proud To be a democrat and stand with people like her who fight for us everyday.

(5,272 posts)with big money, the reality persists, that they will not be as effective on those sorts of issues, or the rhetoric involving those issues. The fact remains that as good as they might be in some areas, there is one area that will continue to get us clobbered come the GE overall, and that's not fighting the money. Trying to speak rationally to those moneyed-interests works great for establishment dems in the primary. But we have Trump because of the money. He wasn't the first choice, but he'll do, and if he gets impeached, Pence or Ryan will be even better.
We should not necessarily be replacing our Dems who think the way to effect change is by forging these connections, but we should be applying pressure on them to reconsider, which has to include the possibility of either not being there for them when they need us, or giving them a run for their money in a primary. That is kind of how this process works. To not do this means it will be even harder for politicians to step out on a limb and push against special interests, because they won't have cover of constituency demands to do so.
So while I'm fine with saying we shouldn't outright attack Democrats, we should NOT be uncritical, or accepting of the areas they are weak in just because there are others they step up on, especially if the areas they are weak on are the reasons we keep needing them to step up on the things they are good on. Money is the root of so much of our political disfunction, from climate change, to just how persistent and vile racism is, because sewing that distrust and hatred between the proles is how they keep their money and their power.
