Right wingers now live in an echo chamber that is impervious to penetration.

Not only do they obtain their news and opinion from right wing media, they surround themselves with other right wingers and limit their knowledge and discussion to points that they all agree upon. They cannot fathom another viable point of view, because it flies in the face of what they believe is fact-based reporting.

That same right wing media has demonized mainstream (a/k/a fact-based) media and encouraged their listeners to disbelieve anything that is reported by them.

Mind you, this propaganda/brainwashing has been in place for decades.

The minions are unaware that they have become the pawns of the puppetmaster.

Not trying to give them a pass here - each man and woman is responsible for determining the truth, even if that truth places their beliefs and ideals in peril.

But it certainly explains why so many otherwise well-educated people cannot see the truth even when it is so obvious to the rest of us.
