the environmental scientist (didn't catch his name) stated that "within the last hour they announced that they have cut all funding for the satellites that study earth".

Having worked for years at NASA on the MTPE and specifically on EOSDIS and the DAO, I am simply devastated. I thought that maybe they would allow the instruments that are in place collecting GB per day of data would be allowed to continue to collect data... after all it can serve other purposes. I am trying to find an article online about what exactly was cut, is there some sort of backup plan, can we at least copy off the data that was acquired for the last 20 to 25 years (way too much for something like the memoryhole2), and maybe the Europeans would be offered our satellites (command and control, as well as downlink). That might not be possible because they would also have to be given the data relay satellites (TDRS and its replacement), but worth a shot.

Anyone have a link to an article on this?

The speaker is Bill McKibbon who has lead the struggle against the Keystone Pipeline. He's headquartered in Burlington, VT

I'm guessing we'll hear more tomorrow.

it is frustrating to watch smart people raise valid points and yet nothing seems to happen to fix anything. The interview with Lord just made me want to throw my computer across the room. Maher did a good job of surfacing his hypocrisy.

So - thanks for posting. Now off to bed angry and frustrated!
