time to move forward

I am far from happy with what ended up passing as healthcare "reform" but I'll be goddammed if I'm going to support the repukes' plan to repeal it now. Put pressure on your congresspeople and local legislators to get the flexibility you need in your own states:

No way in hell I'm going to add fuel to the fire now to get repukes elected to repeal this when they've completely come off the rails on so many other issues in the past few years. Really? Romney was for it before he was against it? Asshole!
No matter what I think of the healthcare debacle and every other disappointment I've been dealt over the past four years, I will be enthusiastically supporting Obama and Democrats this November. The repukes don't want to take us to the 1950's...they want to take us to the 1550's.

2. The ACA is a step in the right direction and helps millions of people. That is a good thing...

no matter how you look at it.

Did it go far enough? No. Nothing ever does.

Something that big HAS to be done in stages. This reform act has a lot of things in it that many don't know about. You may just be in a position that the most obvious benefits are not intended for you. You are lucky. But there are provisions that help you that you may not be aware of.

I will be doing what I can to help Obama get re-elected. He MUST be re-elected. Imagine what he can do as a lame duck. He's a moderate, and he will remain one. But he DOES learn from his mistakes. He DOES change his mind when he thinks he should, based on new info. There's no telling what he might decide to get done, after his four years of experience with the Republicans sabotaging him at every turn.

3. statement from Kim Gillan, Democrat running for Montana's open congressional seat

http://www.gillanforcongress.com/
“Today’s decision allows much needed health care reform to move forward. The health care bill is not perfect, but it is a significant step in the right direction towards making sure Montana families, children and small businesses have greater access to affordable quality health care. Right now, Congress needs to focus on affordability, rather than pointing fingers, complaining, or threatening to repeal the law. This bill can and should be improved. In Congress, I will work to make sure any proposals give Montana the flexibility to address state concerns.”

I agree with her.

This seat is being vacated by Denny Rehberg who is running against Jon Tester (Montana's relatively decent Democratic senator). Kim could use any help anyone can give...we are looking at an avalanche of corporate money in Montana that we've never had to deal with before thanks to the Supreme Court's shorsighted decision to completely invalidate our century old campaign laws.
