Republicans were full of oats after the 2004 election, they retained the White House and got a stronger majority in Congress. Then they went batshit crazy with all types of personal freedom restricting legislation, dead wrong environment legislation and financial legislatin that gave Wall Street a free ride. Republicans seemed accountable to noone. Democrats seemed lost or resigned to fighting to limit the republican damage. Then came the 2006 election, Democrats handed Reoublicans their head, retook the House and Senate. The 2008 election farther increased Democrats control in Congress and took the Presidency by a large margin.
Republicans tend to overdue extremism when they gain control, Democrats tend to govern rationally and solve problems. I see republicans making a mess of things over the next two years. It was not publicized well at all, but Democrsts GAINED seats in the House and Senate in the 2016 election. In 2018, voters will be very angry at republicans for the damage that republicans cause over the next two years. Trump is setting up to be a historical disaster as President, in 2018, the vast majority of voters will likely be sick of Trump, even more sick of Trump than they were of Bush in 2006. The haters and racists that voted for Trump in 2016 largely were the very same people that voted for Bush in 2004, the very same people, even the Midwest people that voted for Supposedly economic fear reasons.
