About Trump's speech. I think the Republican Party, or some of them, decided that

Trump's approval ratings were getting so low, and the general public was so angry at the
Republican Party, that they needed to do some damage control. They decided to have him perform a speech that sounded much more reasonable and Presidential than trump ordinarily is.

The new goal is to be "presidential" in hopes of discouraging investigations into his treasonous activities.

I just didn't know it when I was participating in it, but the RNC poll was topic for topic his speech. He didn't write it, all he did was read what he was told to read.

I know, this wasn't actually a SOTU, but it applies.

Regression to the mean says he'll be back tweeting in a day or so. I'm kind of surprised he hasn't sent out a "nailed it" tweet yet.

Did he?

optics as a measure of popularity is a vital part of any good politician.

As the week goes on we will definately see that this speech was so devoid of any direction as to make people's heads spin.

There was virtually no foreign policy discussions.
This speech was taylor made to the anti-immigration crowd.
In as much as I was not upset to have him honor the fallen Navy Seal, President Trump allowed this to become over the top which, in my own opinion.
This was an extended campaign speech, nothing more.
