Tornadoes in Northern Illinois on Feb 28

Nothing to see here
Who needs NOAA or the EPA?
Climate change is a hoax
I heard it on CSPAN. It must be true
We have tornadoes all the time in February
Oh wait, I meant never in my 60 years!

It might be a scary commute home, for some. I'll be doing any of my errands early, tomorrow.

For as long as they've kept records in Chicago we've never - until now - gone January AND February without 1 inch of snow. And tonight we've had reportedly at least one fatality in Ottawa in 8 (so far) reported area tornadoes tonight.

air coming in at times and causing instability that can lead to tornados . I am really not sure how that works but
Look at the normal high vs recorded for the area 2017 February and check out the snow pack
I mentioned last weekend I planned to trim some trees before tornado season Pfffft

One was an EF-2. Last Feb also had one in eastern PA. Not a good trend.

Tornadoes are very rare here. We are the top of a hill so it should be an interesting night.

Bad stuff went east, for the most part, but they're saying hail possible later.

Everything went around us. A small town about 3 miles west and 12 miles south got hit lightly and that piece hit a town about 12 miles east and 3 miles south later.

Then a place a few miles north but 30+ miles west got pounded (Ottawa, IL) and that piece hit ares north and east of that.

We had maybe(!) an inch of rain but stuff south, west, north and east of us got hit by actual tornadoes.

Got lucky.
