WASHINGTON ― As a team of elite U.S. commandos found themselves under unexpectedly heavy fire in a remote Yemeni village last month, eight time zones away, their commander in chief was not in the Situation Room.
Its unclear what he, personally, was doing. But his Twitter account was busy promoting an upcoming appearance on the Christian Broadcasting Network.
I will be interviewed by @TheBrodyFile on @CBNNews tonight at 11pm. Enjoy! read a tweet from President Donald Trumps personal account on Saturday, Jan. 28.
Whether it was Trump himself or an aide who sent out that tweet at 5:50 p.m. ― about half an hour into a firefight that cost a Navy SEAL his life ― cannot be determined from the actual tweets, and the White House isnt saying. Likewise, its not clear who deleted the tweet some 20 minutes later, or why the new president, just a week on the job, chose not to directly monitor the first high-risk military operation on his watch.

The deplorables would hunt them until they were dealt with, one way or another.
This chickenhawk does it, someone who refused to serve his country, and they dont say a fucking word.
If that doesnt make your fucking blood boil, nothing will.

(100,079 posts)The double standard that the GOP holds us to is fucking insane, and they've been doing this as long as I have been alive. I don't remember one instance of a GOP'er telling a democrat they did a good job on something. Instead the blame gets placed on the Dems for all the evil shit they've ever done or will do. Since the election I've used the example that Obama could have saved a baby from a burning building, and the conservative pundits would have blamed Obama for starting the fire. And as a result we have a party that has declared themselves above the law and puts party power over people all day, every day. It's scary what they are doing. But their refusal to work with the other side will ultimately hurt them, as it is showing right now with the town halls. They are not above the law, and we will let them know that.

I wish to god there was a way to split us in two countries, for real. Let all the blue thinkers go to CA and NY and OR and WA and a few more states and let these other folks have their states.
It is the only way this is gonna work.

(31,112 posts)They really cant ever be happy in the same country as scientists, funny comedians (as opposed to rightwing comedians who are not funny which is why you never hear of them), teachers, community workers, etc.
Too late though. Election day ended any chance of any positive direction.
It really did, there is no way the GOP gets this power and doesnt use it to take everything from us.

However, in the immortal words of the superior host of 'Celebrity Apprentice' - slightly paraphrased - "He'll be back!"

People are dying because of his incompetence
Military had to go back into harms way to destroy a damaged V-22 that was lost during that botched raid.
He's illegitimate. Putin's puppet. Only there because people chose to be ill-informed or duped by their chosen news media.

(17,086 posts)Maybe people get the idea because Obama was there for the Bin Laden raid, but that was a high profile operation. We have special forces teams out daily risking their lives, and a chain of command to oversee their activities. There is plenty of fault to find and blame to lay, including authorizing this particular op in the first place, but second guessing the president*'s activities at the time is pretty low on the scale of quibbles.

(33,643 posts)And this particular one I think is a bit different in scale/nature from 'daily' special forces operations.
It's not a 'capturing Osama-like big deal' but it was a lotta soldiers, and happened in a country people don't normally think of us as 'fighting' in like Afghanistan or Iraq.
The point that if this raid happened under Obama or Clinton (regardless of where they were at the time), the deplorables would be going apeshit and calling for investigations ... is certainly valid.
