agitators, how long before they get REALLY pissed. The very person they thought was their savior is saying that they are false, liars and paid to be so.
When I watch these town halls on the news I am amazed at the intensity, the fury and the accuracy of the questions being laid at the feet of the representatives they also voted for. Time after time I saw Heart felt emotion on display as they challenged the republican representatives.
The questions were honest, valid and non partisan. The people at these town halls were liberal, conservative and non ideological. You can't imply a political leaning to a woman pleading for an answer from her representative about how her husband, struggling with mental disability if their Affordable Care is ended is going to be able to get any help.
That these politicians are fleeing these encounters is not surprising. They are not used to their constituents actually having any clue about what they are doing. Usually they act like they are superior and all knowing, needing only for these unwashed to silently accept the edicts handed down from on high.
They will continue to obfuscate, misinform, out right lie and when that all fails they will flee. Flee, while claiming it's paid activists doing the dirty work of left wing anarchists. But the truth is these PEOPLE having just been the beneficiaries of a caring, compassionate, honest and scandal free presidency for eight years And don't like what they realize they have voted for and they are about to get even if these republican rep's don't get with THEIR program instead of tRump's crazy crap.

(9,033 posts)is personally--i.e. when a policy change personally affects them in a negative way. THEN they see the light--not all of them, but some--so I think at least some will get mad. Especially if they are being called "paid protesters" at the same time.

(37,428 posts)...but as you say the general invisibility of protestors in MSM will provide Trump some cover for a while.
It's not going to work forever, but inventing others to blame for his failures is all Trump ever learned to do. He doesn't do it well, either, so I believe the Nixonian circling of the wagons will happen this year--perhaps already is--followed by Trump's resignation once public opinion sucks the last remaining fun out of his presidenting.
But I've thought for two years that he'd quit, and I keep being wrong.
