I tend to agree. I think they will find a way to blame Obama for the decision, or they will say they (the target) deserved it.. or just find excuses to make it legit.

nuke here (which we heard about constantly after 9/11) -- and wasn't just a sudden decision on his part but at least discussed with military etc to some degree -- I would doubt it, even though the fallout so to speak would be a massive problem internationally from the US using nukes for the second time in world history (a suitcase bomb is not anything close in power to a proper nuke). Totally randomly on his own? He'd be out of the White House in minutes and Pence would be president.

Sorry, I should have said third time since WWII obviously involved two atomic bombs. I was thinking of WWII as one event.

From what I have read targeting and counter response need to be considered which puts the entire military and civilian infrastructure on alert. It is quite possible such orders are scrutinized.

And somehow I doubt that the President can just give the order to drop a nuclear bomb some where completely on his own. I rather suspect he wouldn't be able to do that unless some serious senior military types also agreed that dropping a bomb was the best thing to do.

"The president has supreme authority to decide whether to use America's nuclear weapons. Period. Full stop," said the Arms Control Association's Kingston Reif. A president could only be stopped by mutiny, he said, and more than one person would have to disobey the president's orders.

if there are incoming enemy warheads.

I think the scenario being proposed is that Trump simply decides to drop a nuclear bomb somewhere. Absent an immediate threat from that somewhere, I find it a bit hard to believe that he'd be able to do it without saner people stopping him.

But if he were simply to decide to bomb some foreign country and actually succeed in doing so, I think he'd be yanked out of office rather quickly. Even trying to do so and being stopped would result, I hope, in very rapid removal.

I hope.

What is driving me crazy is, as Depressed as I feel, I would really love to have access to some pot right now. California passed the law, and friends have told me, the stores will not be legally selling it until next year. It will take that long for them to get a licence. I don't know anyone who has access to Marijuana, but I sure wish someone would start selling it ... the only other option is to try and get a medical marijuana card... and that's easier said than done.

I would have to get a ride to a clinic, and find someone to put me though the process. I don't know how long it takes, and we do have three places that distribute the stuff. The other day I tried some edibles that just contained hemp oil but they were really expensive. I have feeling the weed will be too.

In the good old days a baggie was about 20 dollars. I am sure something that size is twice or maybe even three times that expensive.

Your OP is a fear of mine with this unpredictable man, he has never been humiliated by a head of state, and he is petty, stupid and careless with his need to win.

Old school republicans and conservatives who aren't batshit end-timers, maybe. If they would finally get off their silent butts and stop pretending government is nothing but a big old game of "Federal Football" because they got butt-hurt over Nixon.

But if he does nukes someone, it will be too late. We're done as a nation. Everyone else in the world will work to take us down, and take us down hard.

I imagine that if Trump drops a nuke somewhere that retaliation nukes will drop on us somewhere(s). Wash DC would surely be a target, as would the locations of major cities, naval ports, nuclear silo installations and god knows what else. The Hoover dam, the Mississippi river, the Houston and New Orleans oil refineries? I'm sure the Russians and Chinese have long had a list of targets. Not all of us would get wiped out on first strike, but we would certainly be exposed to down wind radio-activity.

If he dropped the bomb it would send this country into apeshit overdrive. Everyone is already livid, the small groups that are not are already lost to whatever depravity took them long ago.

People would lose their shit imo.
