Melania Trump removes apparent profit intentions from 'sex business' lawsuit against Daily Mail

Melania Trump has scrubbed from her lawsuit against the Daily Mail claims that the website wrecked her chances at profiting off her husband's presidency by describing her as a hooker in a since-deleted news story.

The First Lady filed a $150 million defamation suit against The Mail earlier this month over an Aug. 19 article that claimed she worked as an "elite escort" in the "sex business" during the 1990s.

Trump charged in her original suit that the allegedly bogus story destroyed her "once-in-a-lifetime opportunity" to launch a "multi-million dollar business" as "one of the most photographed women in the world."

But an amended complaint obtained by the Daily News on Tuesday no longer contains Trump's apparent intensions to strike it rich in the White House. Previously listed details about "product categories" that Trump was looking to invest in had also been removed.

It's all bullshit anyway. We already know that the Trumps are all about the money and branding. This is just for appearances.

5. Daily Mail is run by awful people

In some ways I hope she wins and sinks the Daily Mail. Not that she will.

The Daily Mail was a nazi supporting paper back in the 1930's. It supported the rise of Mosley, the BUF and the Black shirts, only to sheepishly turn sides when war broke out in 1939.

It's a disgusting hate filled rag that sums up everything wrong with British journalism. There's a lot right with some of British press too, but the Mail contains nothing worthy.

It's the most right wing daily newspapers blaming everything on 'others' from immigrants to single mothers, intelectuals to Remainers.

The Daily Mail is now discounted as a Wikipedia reference site. It's just awful. Anything linked to the Mail, take with a pinch of salt.

I'm a Brit, 40 odd years there, nearly a decade here. As I live in a Trump majority area, good to know we aren't alone after finding this great site of yours. Happy to do my first post.

Hoping America can get back on track with reality and sanity.

Cheers

9. Welcome to DU. See my post below for my attitude about this: it's not that she's suing, so much....

...as it is the reasons she gave for suing. None of this "besmirching my good name" stuff for Melania. No -- it was because what they said about her might ruin her chances of making a buck (or millions) off of being FLOTUS.

Christ on a trailer hitch, but the whole lot of them are grifters.

That wording in the lawsuit, about potential earnings, is so abhorrent and takes the focus of any legitimate claims she may have. And the lack of shame or care about how they come across is so blatant.

I find the concept of Flotus and the status given to a non-elected person very odd. The only thing I can relate it to is the monarchy back in the uk, but then you guys fought a war to be free of all that pomp, didn't you?

Oh, the Daily Express is another right wing horror show of a British newspaper. The Sun is run by Murdoch/Fox, as is The Times, but the latter has never been anything more than a gazetteer for the upper classes anyway. The Telegraph is known as The Torygraph. The only left wing daily tabloid is the Mirror.

So in all, about 15% of the daily news fodder in the uk is left leaning. Frank Zappa was correct about the myth of the liberal owned media majority.

The Guardian has good journalism. Generally sound and they have good connections. The BBC will usually give a plain round up without hyperbole.

...bad outlets as their primary sources.

As for the putative duties of FLOTUS, they all start with the traditional role of "wife to a powerful man," which include first and foremost being his hostess for state events and visitors of note. Always be gracious, never create personal controversy. It's obviously unpaid, but that's life as a wife. It's supposed to be an honor to live in the White House: it is part of our collective history and one of the symbols of our country. It is called the People's House because it belongs to us, and residency is temporary.

A couple of the presidents have not had a wife to take on this job, but that's been fine. One brought his niece on board, and the other his daughter. Ivanka indicated she would do it, since Melania is not going to, but like everything else about this family, they obviously had no clue what that meant. The wife of the Prime Minister of Japan was left to tour our nation's capital on her own. Instead of a formal state dinner at the White House with reportage about the guests attending etc, they were taken to a private clubhouse owned by the President with no sense of occasion and no actual reporters.

Each FLOTUS has had to decide for herself how to define her role, and some have done so spectacularly well. The prospect of a woman being president will obviously change things. For the first time, we'll have to come to grips with the necessities of this job and actually hire someone to define and oversee its many functions.

I heard that Melania's lawyer is famous for ruining the companies he goes after. I think that's why she hired him. The Daily Mail might as well count the days until it shuts down for good.

and rounding up the pictures related to the news story--that's the utility of the Mail. I do agree that it's a Trust But Verify type of paper--one should always find a better source (or preferably, the source from where the MAIL stole the information!).

...of the office of POTUS, FLOTUS, and the White House in general. Really, it comes off as pimping and prostitution of a position that is supposed to be an honor in service to the nation. This family is so damned greedy and corrupt that they can't even be subtle about it -- which ultimately will be a good thing in building the case to toss them all out on their asses.

to have been a sex worker. She'd make more money on a fashion line not being First Floozy, like Ivanka was making money before Daddy was selected. She should sue Donald for preventing her future earnings.

to imagine that she may have also been an escort prior to her marriage to Trump. After all, selling sex is selling sex. I too hate the fact that her first instinct was to try to profit off of her status as FLOTUS, particularly since she had seemed to have no interest in actually being FLOTUS and from everything we heard, it was Ivanka who was coming to town to take on the role as 1st Daughter in lieu of a FLOTUS.

The cat is already out of the bag as to what her true intentions were of turning her role as FLOTUS into a money making enterprise. It's what this family does. It's sad but we need to be skeptical about everything they do because more likely than not, there is a monetary payoff at the end of everything they do. If not they probably wouldn't be doing it. Service to their country in return for the blessings they have received as a citizen of this nation, without something in it for them monetarily, is for other people.

Surely that would be pretty easy to arrange right?

She can take a page from poor little rich girl Ivanka's book and start with forcing the hired help to buy her, uh, services.
