on Flynns' Russian connections? Me too. This has the all the earmarks of a setup. When, not if, tRump quits, is impeached, removed by the 25th amendment or Putin gets sick of him, Pence is the default president. Unless he is part of the scheme, part of the long con that is being perpetuated on the American public.
As leaky as this group of people are. As stupid as they seem to be. As disrespectful of political norms and as incompetent as they clearly are, there is no way Pence is out of the loop. But if he is in on the con, then he can't assume he will survive the impending doom coming for tRump.
His denials of awareness of anything to do with the Russians lack credibility and the asleep at the wheel investigative reporters need to get in gear and to work on this. Or we will find ourselves saddled with a president who is worse than tRump, a lot worse.

(82,849 posts)Remember that Bush issued pardons in the dead of night on Christmas Eve 1992 (after losing re-election the month before to Bill Clinton) to Caspar Weinberger, Robert C. McFarlane, Elliott Abrams, Clair E. George, the former head of the Central Intelligence Agency's clandestine services, Duane R. Clarridge, the former head of the C.I.A.'s European division, and Alan D. Fiers Jr.
Guess what Elliott Abrams is doing now? If you guessed "slithering back into the corridors of power like he did during Dubya's administration," you win the internets for the day.
If Trump goes down, Pence will have the pardon machine all cranked up and ready to go.

(2,573 posts)the lie. If Pence is involved it will come out. I'm not 100% convinced that he is. If I were TrumBannon I'm not sure I'd want the bible thumper in on this.

(38,532 posts)No. Have been, yes. "Out of the loop" is the lie the whole Republican Party is praying will fly.

(10,274 posts)If it touches as many leadership seats and campaign warchests as it seems it might, we will be referring to the 2018 midterms after the fact as The Doom of Valeria, because it's a disease that will leave no Republican untouched.
Might this treasonous President, on behalf of his decidedly unamerican Base of ('christian') Deplorables, be what finally wrecks the Grand Old Party?

(30,761 posts)we can do something about him.
Was he involved in any corruption in Indiana? My informations says that he was incompetent and unpopular, not corrupt.
I hope, if there was corruption, we can get him to resign, like Spiro Agnew.

(595 posts)The new story is that Trump "fired" Flynn and the media is repeating it verbatim even though at the time it was reported Trump was behind him. So Trump fired Flynn for "lying" to Pence even though Trump and the White House knew about the call and had the transcript last month. Also, per Preibus, Flynn was fired not for doing anything wrong, only deceiving Pence. If Trump and others at the White House knew, how could Pence not have known and how was he deceived. It's stories like this that makes my head explode. Circular logic that no one, somehow, is able to get to the bottom of.

(820 posts)If what he did wasn't wrong, why lie? What could have been the possible reason for keeping Pence in the dark about such an "innocent" matter.
My feeling is Trump told Flynn to do what he did. Pence knew. Pence knew what he did was wrong. He was sent out to cover it up. Pence lied.
They didn't "fire" Flynn when they knew what he had done. They threw him under the bus when it came out in the press.

(4,221 posts)I will always have a hard time believing that he didn't know outright starting in August of 2016, or at the least didn't have heavy suspicions beginning in late October.
Clearly, the Republicans baked up his innocence and how he was duped by Flynn, and they have been planting those "17 days" type of talking points so that they can manage to salvage something out of all this once their tower of cards comes crashing down.
But regardless of the past -- he has to know NOW AT THIS MOMENT.
Everyone is saying that the media needs to investigate, that the FBI needs to investigate, that Chaffetz and other Chairs need to investigate.
But Pence is sitting RIGHT THERE in the Number Two Spot in the world -- with more resources at his disposal than any single other person and HE IS THE ONE WHO NEEDS TO INVESTIGATE. He should be asking a ton of questions and tracking down evidence.
His ongoing ignoring of the Russia problem shows complicity and that makes him part of the cover-up.
Covering up the crimes of the President is still a high crime.
He is the equivalent of a trained, armed, ready guard just watching the figurative rape of our democracy in front of his eyes, and he is pretending that everything is rosy.
HE IS COMPLICIT.

(16,887 posts)...he didn't answer the question and only stated that Mike Flynn had not shared all the facts.
It was deliberate to focus only on Mike Flynn and not on what he actually knew and when and from whom. I also have watched Pence very carefully when he answers things where he has been "coached" and prepped...like he did when asked during the campaign about the pussygrabbing video. He hesitates, tilts his head back and forth in a nodding and then does some kind of weird thing with his mouth and eyes. Maybe I need to watch more videos of him, but I notice it on particular occasions. Like those questions.
I believe Pence knows. Even if it wasn't on Jan 15th - he did sometime after. And I believe he knew before election that some kind of help and deal happened with Russia and that people like McConnell, Ryan, Priebus, Chaffetz all knew and know. And they made this deal and accepted keeping quiet because of money and power.
And it will be their undoing.
