Washington Post Rebuffs Romney on Retraction
By MICHAEL D. SHEAR

Mitt Romney’s campaign demanded — but did not receive — a retraction on Wednesday from The Washington Post for an article alleging that during Mr. Romney’s tenure, Bain Capital invested in companies that pioneered the practice of sending jobs out of the country.

Armed with a PowerPoint presentation trying to rebut the allegations, a top aide to Mr. Romney met with Post editors Wednesday, seeking a retraction of the article, which focused on six companies that Bain Capital invested in while Mr. Romney was at the helm of the firm. Those familiar with the meeting said Gail Gitcho, Mr. Romney’s communication’s director, attended for the campaign.

Kris Coratti, a spokeswoman for The Washington Post, declined to discuss the meeting in detail, saying it was considered “private.” But she said that “we are very confident in our reporting.” Eight reporters and editors from The Post participated in the meeting, including Tom Hamburger, who wrote the article.

The intensity of Mr. Romney’s reaction to the Post article suggests that the campaign believes the attacks could be effective in portraying him as a business executive who allowed American jobs to be lost to other nations.

allowed ??

That is like saying Colonel Sanders ALLOWS chickens to be raised, killed, breaded and deep-fried in their stores. Why such passive language for a guy who cashed in on firing Americans?

You'd think the Rmoney handlers would learn from history...don't piss off the media. Bring 'em donuts...take 'em to a BBQ...make 'em wanna have a beer with you. Honk 'em off and you end up fighting two wars...just ask Mooselini Palin. I'm betting Team Mittens thinks they can buy the corporate media off but even the stenographers do have limits and egos. Willard crossed the line.

The stupid thing is by making a big stink about the Post article it keeps it alive in the news cycle and invites others to follow suit. I hate to be gravedancing early here, but from this vantage point, the Rmoney campaign is already unraveling under the weight of its own superficiality.

What the hell happens when all the Paul-bots show up and start counting delegates?
I think we'll get an idea of how bad it's REALLY getting over there if TPTB in the GOParty Apparatus can't even keep the Hate on the leash long enough to manage a Convention. By September, they will be so demoralized they will HAVE to spend ungodly amounts of C.U. money just trying to KEEP UP.
I hope the Idiot Rich in this country are enjoying wasting all that money, just to buy a lose.

Then we could have a sort of Truman Show, with cameras all over the planet and sit back to watch these elitist, arrogant, spoiled, self-important assclowns go all lord of the flies on each other.

That Mitt Romney’s financial company, Bain Capital, invested in a series of firms that specialized in relocating jobs done by American workers to new facilities in low-wage countries like China and India...
link

Unless Mitt can prove that the companies in question did NOT specialize in devaluing and outsourcing American jobs -- whether they actually outsourced them or not; whether they created U.S. jobs or not -- WaPo has nothing to retract.

"companies that pioneered the practice of sending jobs out of the country".

Bain was founded in 1984. Was there really no other company sending jobs out of the country before 1984? I find that hard to believe. But as close as I can get in memory is that in 1990 I bought a Trek bicycle. Trek being an American company right there in Wisconsin where I was living. But the bicycle I bought, was made in Korea. It's not like Romney invented the idea of looking for cheaper labor.
