How could anyone look at the role Russia has played in the Trump campaign and not be just a little suspicious?
When Donald Trump, out of the blue, hired Paul Manafort, who was working in Russia, to be his campaign manager, should not a small red flag have gone up?
Then, when he hired Lt General Michael Flynn, as his military adviser, and later National Security Adviser, did not that red flag go up just a little higher when his photo was publicized at a table with none other than Vladimir Putin?
Then, there was the story about how Trump had personally profited from selling some property to a Russian in Florida and made several million dollars off the deal?
Then there were numerous stories about how much the Trump family had invested in the country of Russia? Should not that red flag have been waving frantically in the wind?
Then, time after time, Mr Trump refused to criticize Putin for any of his transgressions. Instead, he would attempt a moral equivalency by saying, "How about America?"
Then, there was the Russian involvement in our elections and the hacking of the computers of the Democratic National Committee. There was proof from our intelligence agencies that Russia was involved with the leaks from Wikileaks.
Red flags were waving all around us. We were all surrounded by the comrade red color. How could anyone, even the most loyal Trump supporter, not have just a tiny bit of doubt about the man they had placed in the White House?
Still, they remain in denial. They invested in Donald Trump and they are not yet ready to sell.

(6,404 posts)...in spite of everything you say being true, Trump is still a white misogynist selling white supremacy. It's the dog whistle heard loud and clear in rural and exurban white America - he's the one who will get us back on track. You know, the track that has the "right" cultural hierarchy.
Rural and exurban white america sees themselves as a tribe under siege and he's their savior - just ask him. All this Russia stuff...means to an end as far as his supporters go. I use the word tribe as a group of people more committed to the members' well being than the well being of the greater whole.
That last point - virtually a direct quote from a coworker when asked his opinion about Russia's role clearly helping Trump. His point - "Trump is the key to america's strong future and if getting there goes towards taking help from Russia, so be it".
So, IMHO, as long as Trumpster stays the course on white supremacy, he'll be just fine with his core supporters.
