I have lived in Colorado since 1969. Right now the forecast is mid sixties in Denver the next week. Plus another 70's record coming up. Frost is out of the ground about 3 -4 weeks early. Very dry in Denver as well. So we might have a really early fire season. It has also been a pretty warm winter based on past experience.

(21,646 posts)It may break some record highs for some of the days , and they say it could go higher since there is no ground cover of snow
I wouldn't call it extra dry here, but extra sunny around here lately . I do not miss the major amount of cloudy days we usually have at this time of the year. Very little use of our full spectrum lighting this year so far.
And yes all around a warm winter season for the area

(11,443 posts)Usually don't start until mid or late March here in the southeast. Highs have been in the 60s to the 80s for several days. That, and plenty of rain, have the grass shooting up a month ahead of normal.

(65,180 posts)Most summers here in SE PA certainly have longer and more severe heat waves. The winters, though snowy overall, seem shorter and above average in temps. In fact, a below average month any time of the year is rare.

(46,166 posts)Been here since 1976 and this is the warmest Feb. in memory. Remember the Chinook winds of Febs past. They offered hope that Spring was indeed on the way. I miss that short break that would last for a day.
I worry about the heavy, wet snow that next month could deliver. We still have one Cottonwood left on our place.

(17,984 posts)to Green Mountain this afternoon. Wore a short sleeved t-shirt and fleece that was open the entire time. I could have done without the fleece altogether, I think.
I have been severely disappointed in the snow on the front range this season. I really have not had the opportunity to ride my fat bike.

(15,810 posts)Moved to Lakewood when Ike was prez. Winter was winter, and maybe by the end of April we could get by with a sweater instead of a parka. One winter, before the holidays, we turned the whole back yard into an ice rink; Dad had us chopping it up at the end of March, wanting to make sure the summer lawn would be okay.
Sometimes it does seem like a whole nother planet.

(206,247 posts)And driving's getting treacherous because the snowbanks are getting so big that it's tough to see around them. I have family in Denver, well Englewood and Castle Rock now, and they say if you don't like the weather, just wait a few minutes! I envy you your heat wave, but I recognize how dangerous it can be. We had a freak snowstorm back in October before the leaves were off the trees and before the ground was frozen and we're still paying the price now...
