Has anyone dealt with Credo Mobile, the self proclaimed progessive phone company?

In an e-mail entitled "An e-mail Verizon doesn't want you to open":

Make the switch: Call 877-346-0516 and mention offer code 315407 Need to unsubscribe?

PLANS THAT FIT YOUR NEEDS AND A COMPANY THAT SHARES YOUR VALUES

Self-proclaimed “crazy Tea Party freshman” Rep. Joe Walsh said he came to Washington “ready to go to war” and defended the infamous Congressional hearing on birth control regulations that had only male witnesses by saying, “This is not about women.” He also earned the dubious honor of a 100% lifetime rating from the Koch brothers’ Americans for Prosperity. So why did Verizon Wireless contribute money to him?

And why did they contribute to Rep. Steve King, a founding member of the Tea Party Caucus who called shamed Sen. Joe McCarthy “a great American hero” and said he’d support a modern version of McCarthy’s House Un-American Activities Committee?

Sadly, these aren’t isolated examples of questionable contributions. Verizon has given $130,600 to members of the House and Senate Tea Party Caucuses since 2009, while AT&T contributed a whopping $849,000.

At CREDO Mobile, we don't fund Tea Party politicians — we fight them. In fact, we’ve set up the CREDO SuperPAC to defeat ten of the most extreme Tea Party-affiliated House members this November through good old-fashioned grassroots organizing.

We are — and always have been — about phone-powered progressive change. We've raised more than $70 million for progressive nonprofits. And we fight the right wing with an activist network nearly 3 million strong.

End e-mail---------
It seems like a good deal and a good company, or at least better than Verizon. I'm ashamed to say that I use Verizon.
I haven't had a new phone in many years. I'm amazed the one I have still works.

I have a smart phone, which I got for free during one of Credo's special promotions, so I have a voice and data plan. Credo uses the Sprint network. I am entirely satisfied with it.

They use Sprint's network and the coverage we got was excellent, throughout the US. The only reason we switched from them (after being with them for about 7 years) was they were slow to get with the program on Smartphones and I wanted a decent Android phone. They have much better offerings now in that department and we may well go back to them when our contract with Verizon is up.

BTW the customer service with them was always terrific. Call centers in the US and they were helpful to a fault.

so you wouldn't even have to wait until your Verizon contract expires.

out of their home office in downtown San Francisco. At the time, they were known as Working Assets, and the products they offered were a credit card, and commercial and residential long distance services .

They donate a portion of their profits each year to progressive non-profits, from a list of organizations nominated and ranked by their customer base.

Their call center was unionized (CWA), they actively pursued the hiring and promotion of LGBT, female, and minority employees, and they treated their employees like gold. I had a child while employed there, and the company donated hundreds of dollars in cash and gifts (mostly children's clothes Hanna Andersson's, very nice!). I only stopped working for them because we had to leave the state for family reasons.

They are the very real deal -a great company of very great people.

They are a little bit more expensive than AT&T, who I had before, but not that much. And the phones are better.

are not competitive with say, Virgin Mobile. Maybe as they grow, they will be better able to provide better deals.

They definitely are progressive though so I would love to see them be able to offer better rates.
