Stephen Colbert dropped the L word (lie) and the F word (you know) on the Trump White House on Monday night. It was the late-night comedians latest blast of politically charged commentary primarily directed at the 45th president. And it was the kind of performance that just a short time ago seemed to risk alienating large numbers of potential viewers but now appears to be making the Late Show host a very big draw.
Colbert lampooned White House senior policy adviser Stephen Miller, who on his tour of the Sunday political talk shows asserted that the powers of the president to protect our country are very substantial and will not be questioned.
Will not be questioned? Let me test that theory, Colbert said. What the f--- are you talking about?
Colbert then challenged Miller, who said he is prepared to go on any show, anytime, anywhere, to appear on Tuesdays Late Show.

I hope Colbert keeps harping on Miller's refusal to go on the show. This is the kind of thing that will get to Chump.
I wonder if it would be possible to get Colbert to guest host SNL. That would be one power packed episode.

From a numbers standpoint, Stephen Colbert's first year behind the desk of The Late Show was anything but a success. He never once topped Jimmy Fallon's ratings, and rumors swirled that CBS was considering replacing him with his colleague James Corden (who wanted nothing of it). While the viewers simply weren't there and some of his bitsand post-Colbert Report personainconsistent, Colbert never wavered in his sharp political commentary. And three weeks into Trump's presidency, things are finally starting to come together.
Throughout one of the most bitter, polarizing elections in decades, Colbert kept fighting Donald Trump five nights a week. Colbert could have invited the candidate on his show and playfully tousled his hair. Colbert could have ignored the lies, the attacks on women, minorities, logic, and our democracy, and maybe he would have won over some of those conservative viewers. But he didn't, and his network stood by him. That's not always the case. Just ask Conan.

From your link, Yo..
Colbert, however, was among Trumps fiercest critics during the campaign and never really moderated his politics. Ratings throughout his first year on the Late Show were underwhelming, much to the delight of conservative publications such as the Weekly Standard, which in May called Colberts early struggles sweet schadenfreude.
So glad this is working out for Colbert and us!

(2,522 posts)Did Miller appear on Colbert's show?
Nope, at least not in the parts that were uploaded to youtube. (Only Fallon's boring show is broadcasted on TV in Germany.) I think Colbert forgot to call him a LIAR for not appearing, though. He hoped that Miller would show up within 45 minutes so they can talk before the show ends. It ended with a great Hans Zimmer performance instead.
