I will say since November 8th, all the *good* moments have felt really, really, really good.
Like a sudden rush of exuberance and hope and optimism bursting out of dark nothingness.
Sadly, they don't last long, but the days where Trump gets put in his place make us feel as though not all is lost, that we still have a fight, and it's still possible that this bastard gets brought down in the end.
Perhaps we got so used to having things going so well and smoothly under President Obama that we took them for granted. All that was taken away from us around the late evening hours of November 8th/early morning hours of November 9th, and a dark pall was cast over the land.
But like the late, great Leonard Cohen sang in "Anthem",
Ring the bells (ring the bells) that still can ring
Forget your perfect offering
There is a crack in everything (there is a crack in everything)
That's how the light gets in
So far, I can think of a few of these moments since the Madman proclaimed victory.
Like the evening when the details of the intelligence dossier came out against Trump.
Like when Trump's inaugural crowds were dwarfed by the crowds protesting him the following day.
Like the day when spontaneous protests broke out at airports nationwide protesting the travel ban.
Like the night when Acting Attorney General Sally Yates made her brave stand against the administration.
Like yesterday, when Trump was unanimously rejected by the courts, reducing him to an ALL CAPS meltdown.
It is still very dark in America under this Madman. But we've had our brief moments of light scattered throughout. Let's savor them in anticipation of the next "good moment" that will inevitably come. And let's hope that the days where we again take good for granted will return sooner than later.
