On Wednesday evening, Connellsville HS was playing Uniontown HS. Uniontown has a small population of black students, some of whom play on their basketball team. Students from Connellsville (a hillbilly racist area) held up a Trump/Pence campaign sign and the students were chanting..."Keep them out and build the wall", while black students were shooting foul shots. Of course the Uniontown fans were appalled. This piece of garbage in the White House has tainted everything in this country. I think I will call the Southern Poverty Law Center today.

(11,869 posts)I really hate what 45 has unleashed in this country, especially in the youth who are only mirroring their parents. IT IS SO HATEFUL AND HURTFUL.
So glad I don't live in PA anymore. Even "genteel" Bucks County went for 45.

(1,089 posts)Give the information to Philly.com. Also, call the superintendent of that school system. It will never happen again.

(4,226 posts)He was a business manager turned Superintendent. ..no education background. He was probably proud of the students.

The day after the election, almost too sick to pay attention to anything, we did at least set up an automatic recurring donation to the national ACLU. We'd let our membership lapse several years ago, but it was a given that the challenges taken on by all these groups were going to be enormous.

(284 posts)who pushed it through is a lawyer who is now the Superintendent of the New-Kensington Arnold School District in Westmoreland county. His brother is the board president and his father used to be on the board.

(1,089 posts)Thank you! Technically, that basketball game was on school grounds and that was a violation of anti-bullying mandates to say the least. I will look into this...

(1,089 posts)maybe you can post there. I would also email the super and tell him that you are going to report the incident to US News and World Report (they got a bronze rating frim them). His email is on their district website.

(15,286 posts)My high school alma mater is racially diverse. The stuff our teams sometimes hear when they play teams from the mostly white suburbanites when we play their teams is on the same level. And it's been going on for a long time.
