Here on DU we're all celebrating all the losses for Trump of lateas we should.
But I'm bruised from that last election, and I feel like there is something we're not seeingor, we're forgetting about something.
I guess I'll find out soon enough.

(38,489 posts)Trumpelthinskin's billionaire buddies are paying too much for aftermath real estate. Better to just make it a US protectorate.

(15,805 posts)I'm thinking war has to be on the list, Marshall law, suspend the constitution, arrest the judges, round up Mexicans and Muslims, but civil rights laws, criminalize abortions... gods, Trump is crazy enough to do anything!

(58,785 posts)may be too slow and initially too undefined to explain the feeling of foreboding.
The dominant forces on the right DO intend to remold government of, by and for the people into a corporatist form of fascism and/or a theocratic version. (Only a minority even claim to want a libertarian state, but it would be transient at best because it wouldn't help secure their accumulations of money and power. Charles Koch has no problem using government when it'll help him.)
They DO intend to remove most power and function from both federal and state governments, and in the process limit the ability of the citizenry to secure their own wellbeing. They DO believe in making progressive government policies unconstitutional. They do NOT believe in the equality of all men.
Imagine an America where compulsory public education and compulsory taxation to pay for public schools are both unconstitutional. They're both brewing, if not in the oval office, definitely in other parts of the "West" Wing, like Kansas.

I know. That's what my stomach is telling me.

(153,160 posts)Americans are getting a taste of what repukes are really all about - it is painfully obvious, for example, that after eight years of fighting ACA, they have NO REPLACEMENT - because all along, their intention was for us to go back to the way it was before ACA
THEY DON'T GIVE A FUCK ABOUT THE AMERICAN PEOPLE OR THE CONSTITUTION
HOPEFULLY, THIS WILL WAKE UP THE NON-VOTERS AND MAKE THEM SEE WHO IS *NOT* ON THEIR SIDE

(12,213 posts)I always knew they didn't love America (because America is the middle and lower classes as well as the upper class).
I sure hope others are noticing this.

I'm seeing signs of something growing, I just hope it has time.

(2,198 posts)piece of paper under his nose to sign, people will believe they are getting huge tax breaks and the country will fall in line with the swamp. Then 45 will be impeached for something and Pence will take over and we will have hell to pay for the next 3 1/2 years.

(30,481 posts)I don't think we are missing anything. They hold the power and it's going to be issue after issue. I do think our eyes need to be directed at Ryan. Lots of shit is going to run thru the house that Trump will play little to no role in outside of his signature.
