While she has senior status, she can hear cases. However, she opted for inactive status on 2/2/17, giving up her office and support staff.

I'm not sure what the rules are for federal court judges regarding recusal. At the SCOTUS level, I believe that it's left up to the individual to decide if they have a conflict.
