Seattle attorney Noah Guzzo Purcell takes on Trump over immigration
The Seattle attorney representing Washington state's federal case against President Donald Trumps immigration restrictions is no stranger to high-stakes cases involving a controversial immigration policy.
Washington state Solicitor General Noah Guzzo Purcell was front and center this week before three judges on the U. S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit.
Purcell argued Attorney General Bob Fergusons case against Trump's executive order blocking citizens of Iran, Iraq, Libya, Somalia, Sudan, Syria and Yemen from entering the U.S. The Ninth Circuit judges are considering whether to reinstate the immigration ban, and the case will likely head to the U.S. Supreme Court.
Purcell is a Seattle native who attended Franklin High School. He graduated magna cum laude from Harvard Law School, where he was editor of the prestigious Harvard Law Review, according to his biography.
He was a law clerk for U.S. Supreme Court Justice David Souter and an attorney with law firm Perkins Coie.
