I keep seeing stuff about poor people in rural areas waiting for Trump to bring jobs to to their communities. I hate to say it but if you live in a rural area and are waiting for some big company to move in or for coal to come back you are probably going to be disappointed and poor the rest of your life. I also understand it's hard, expensive and scary to uproot your family and move. What about some kind of program that gives poor people money to go to a city or a place where there are better paying jobs? Something that gets them dreaming and willing to take a couple of risks but not devastating if it doesn't work out.
Thoughts?

(77 posts)Poor isn't just a rural thing. Plenty of urban folks have no money and no jobs. Right now we would just be cramming more poor into less area. We have to solve the problem in the cities then they will learn to come to the work.

And at least in a rural area, you can grow some of your own food and nobody seems to care if you eat the occasional squirrel.
Cramming people into food desert/no job areas of cities isn't the answer. Depopulating the country isn't the answer.

Don't get on me for calling them stupid, I live in a rural area and they really are stupid.
