It is obviously a reaction to the NYT article saying he didn't understand the implications of placing Bannon on the NSC. What they say is true... although he attacks the Times regularly, he still craves their approval like a NY socialite looking for a picture of himself.

The WaPo helped save us from Nixon, its up to the NYT to keep exposing Trump for who he really is. Their role is significant.
