We know a lot of the base has been upset at the party and pushing things further and further to the right and Trump is pretty much as far right as it's going to get. So after 4 years of disaster where are they going to go? The GOP will have backed itself up against a wall or preferably a cliff.

I firmly believe it will take something that hits them personally before they learn they've been conned.
I will not have sympathy.

If Trump manages, however unlikely, to stay afloat, conservatives will just take credit for any good left by Obama, finally accept it and claim success.
If Trump crashes the economy, then it's Obama's fault.
