WASHINGTON ― Senate Republicans are privately unhappy with President Donald Trump, barely two weeks into his administration, according to a Democratic senator who said hes heard a range of complaints.
Im not going to tell you any names, but Ive heard all kinds of comments from Republican senators about the presidents ethics, the presidents leadership style, the presidents performance, the presidents incompetence, the presidents recalcitrance, Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) told reporters Tuesday.
It doesnt manifest itself yet in anything, he said. Eventually it will.
HuffPost tried to trick Brown into naming one of those senators. It did not work.
Ill tell you this: youve heard of them, he said. Youve heard of every one one of them.
The Ohio Democrat said the fact that his GOP colleagues grumble quietly to us is why hes not too worried theyll push to get rid of the Senate filibuster rule to confirm the presidents newly announced Supreme Court pick, Neil Gorsuch. The rule requires 60 votes, instead of a 51-vote majority, to advance a Supreme Court nominee.

(13,225 posts)I remind my Republican senator that his name will be historically linked to Trump's because he has done nothing to stop him.

(25,270 posts)these guys are gaming you. At the same time they may have grumbled to you about Trump - they are supporting everything he does and voting as a bloc. I don't see that changing - because no matter who in their Party is at the helm. No matter if they like the person or not. They are Party first.
Just look at how fast all of them came around to supporting Trump when he won and having the Senate and House in their pocket.
They got cocky real fast - didn't they.
