We can do this, but all PACOM plans call for immediate strikes on Chinese mainland vs C2 nodes, missiles, et al.

We say this pretty openly, and Beijing has sure noticed. PLA says they will retaliate vs the US mainland ie CONUS.

But PLA has no conventional strike able to hit CONUS in any meaningful way. They will have to use nuke ICBM/SLBMs.

7. Pretty sure they can. Even if they don't go nuke, there are 500lb conventional weapons that

can level small cities and critical infrastructure that can be loaded into ICBM/sub-space type weaponry. And then there are other hostile tactics they can use without "declaring war" - maybe they can launch a "commercial use orbital device" that suddenly explodes over North America triggering a high altitude EMP.
Or maybe several of our critical commercial and communication satellites suddenly disappear out of orbit.


Pretty they're keeping Mattis out of the loop with this, if it is going on in the Oval Office. The people who know him tell me that despite his nickname, he's no Jack Ripper, and understands enough to know this is global suicide.
Would like to know if Putin really understands what's going on, or is just as stupid as Flynn when it comes to even a low level nuclear war. Even though Russia and China have an uncomfortable relationship, they both have understanding of how a real War with the billions of people and resources China can field will end up.
After a while, China will overwhelm you with the sheer numbers. Unless you go big time nuclear - and if you do that, you will destroy yourself and pretty near every other lifeform on earth. Just for pride?

Bannon is living in a past era fantasy. Unless he is so self-absorbed, he really does want the fabled Armageddon to take everything out with him when it's time for him to go, he doesn't have clue one how the world really works.

Yes, it can be safely assumed in any nuclear exchange that the first one will be an aerial burst to kill all electronics and communication equipment.
