(61,698 posts)We're fucked if everyone does whatever the they feel like doing. Maybe someone will grow a pair and stand up towhoever is telling the marshalls to stand down.

(82,383 posts)Judicial branch. So how could they be instructed to obey the attorney general in the executive branch? This would mean failure of the separation of powers.

there have been no serious repercussions. Seems to be going as planned to me.

Major Responsibilities of the U.S. Marshals Service
The U.S. Marshals Service is the nations oldest and most versatile federal law enforcement agency. Federal Marshals have served the country since 1789, oftentimes in unseen but critical ways. To this day, the Marshals occupy a uniquely central position in the federal justice system. It is the enforcement arm of the federal courts, and as such, it is involved in virtually every federal law enforcement initiative.

(22,165 posts)... my understanding is that they (US Marshalls) have not been directed to enforce (the opposite by some reports) ... seems to me that that is the enforcement arm of the executive branch NOT doing what they are supposed to do.
I do have some (only some) sympathy for agents on the ground as they can only do as directed .... but are still required to enforce the constitution. The USCBP are part of the exec branch as they are under the department of Homeland Security.

(61,698 posts)Us in the minority. At least, they are supposed to. If bannon has been able to stop the fed marshalls from doing their jobs, then we have a problem.

(22,165 posts)I agree with Elizabeth Warren on this ... i do believe we are facing a constitutional crisis.
The USCBP are part of the US Department of Homeland Security

(6,385 posts)That's why process service folks have to be so creative. In absence of service, CBP/DHS are able to legally claim they have no knowledge of the order.
Just remember - smarmy criminals and their lawyers can always scam the system to get their way. Maybe in the long run they pay for it but it's a really long run and it's as easy as nailing warm jello to the wall.
