The news of their involvement helps unlock the mystery of whether the White House consulted Capitol Hill about the executive order, one of many questions raised in the days after it was unveiled on Friday. It confirms that the small group of staffers were among the only people on Capitol Hill who knew of the looming controversial policy.
Kathryn Rexrode, the House Judiciary Committees communications director, declined to comment about the aides work. A Judiciary Committee aide said Judiciary Committee Chairman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va.) was not "consulted by the administration on the executive order."
"Like other congressional committees, some staff of the House Judiciary Committee were permitted to offer their policy expertise to the Trump transition team about immigration law," a House Judiciary Committee aide said in a statement. "However, the Trump Administration is responsible for the final policy decisions contained in the executive order and its subsequent roll-out and implementation.

(21,852 posts)Does this mean that the Trump cabal is undermining the relationship between the aides and the Representatives they work for? How did the Trump cabal know who to approach to get them to help write the Muslim ban?
Or is it a smokescreen that the Representatives are throwing up to disavow connection with the Executive Order?

(5,995 posts)When the staff is as loose with facts as their fearless leader, this is the kind of crap we'll see. Trump has no patience or understanding of how laws are supposed to be enacted.
They said they cleared it, just not who they talked to or if they had any authority or expertise. It's all agenda driven without a care for real world effects.

(5,043 posts)Why would an aide blindside their boss like this is fire them as a matter of principle.
Or maybe I've just answered my question.
