General Discussion
Related: Editorials & Other Articles, Issue Forums, Alliance Forums, Region ForumsTo All those who are angry with the election results please consider this
It would be more constructive to aim your anger here:
All of the computerized voting companies such as:
Premier Election Solutions (formerly Diebold Election Systems)
ES&S
Sequoia Voting Systems
Hart InterCivic
and at Karl Rove whose strategy it was to install Katherine Harris style Secretaries of State in all of the strategic states such as Ohio, Pennsylvania, Michigan, Florida
Start there -- we need verifiable elections where our votes are cast in secret and tabulated in public. Right now, with the computerized systems - DREs, Optical Scanners, Computerized Central Tabulators, etc. things are the EXACT REVERSE: our votes are no longer cast in secret - they are at the mercy of proprietary software (therefore vulnerable since they are not secret to the corporation that owns the software & hardware), and are tabulated in private with proprietary software (therefore vulnerable to whatever lies in the software &/or hardware).
It is nearly impossible to cast a vote that meets with the requirement of every state that votes be cast in secret and publicly tabulated unless paper ballots are used and then hand counted.
The original purpose for being able to cast a vote in secret was to avoid voter intimidation.
Just like Fukushima, computerized voting is a deadly hazard that continues despite being kept off the media radar.

She can take her concerns elsewhere. This was not an election for people like her to play the pity card.

(31,828 posts)I have her a chance - she was working for Putin. She's not a Democratic and is fair game for that accusation.

so true. where to start? any links?

(7,643 posts)check out these links to get good background info.:
http://www.gregpalast.com/election-stolen-heres/
(read as much as you can that Greg Palast has written about elections)
Read some of Code Red --Computerized Election Theft and the New American Century (can read some for free)
http://codered2014.com/
and follow the blog at that site.
Find out what voting systems are being used in your county and show up to certification hearings, meetings and speak up about how they are unverifiable and violate your state constitution
Find out who the Secretary of State is for your state -- and whether there is an affiliation with a political party and speak up about the conflict of interest -- eg Katherine Harris was Sec. State in FL 1998 and became co-chair of Bush's campaign in FL at the same time and was the one who halted the recount in FL, awarding the election to W over Gore -- the true winner.

(531 posts)I remember all this, I remember reading Palast back in the day, and Katharine Harris and all that...I was disengaged from it for a long time due to severe depression and other mental health problems so it is good to have help knowing how to get engaged again, thanks.

(7,107 posts)The Green Party helps them win and they probably help support it.
What does the Green party do except help elect Republicans?

(2,056 posts)Under normal circumstances I have no problem with voting for whoever. But...people here warned and warned and warned Stein supporters of the danger of not uniting against Trump. Everytime the rest of us hear her name or see her name or face it violently rips the scab off. She needs to shut the fuck up and go away because she will never be forgiven...ever.

(37,160 posts)...liberal-to-left voting bloc. They have failed. The only office-holders in their party are no higher than the municipal or county level. The handful (if that) of people who were elected to state office on their ticket switched to independent or Democrat.
The Greens want to be the lefty party in parliament in a country that does not use a parliamentary system.
They result is a party that is at best ineffectual and at worst a spoiler that gives right-wing candidates their margin of victory.
Such things understandably cause some consternation with them.

"US Green Party presidential candidate Jill Stein has said that her supporters should "absolutely not" vote for Hillary Clinton to stop a Donald Trump presidency, even in a swing state.
In an interview with Mehdi Hasan, host of Al Jazeera's Upfront, Stein said that Clinton "is not different enough" from the New York real estate businessman, to enable her or the Democratic Party "to save your job, save your life, or save the planet."

(9,524 posts)issues and voter suppression, which allowed for SCOTUS judges who gutted the voting rights act and gave us Citizens United. And of course the Russian thing, and the media, etc. but unless the Dems start taking election fraud (NOT VOTER FRAUD which is a myth to justify voter ID laws) seriously, we will not win another.

(145,314 posts)I have been an election judge on numerous elections and have been there for the mandatory testing of the machines. Your post is counterproductive in that will drive down voter turnout.
New machines are being developed. Travis county has an interesting design. However it will be very expensive to replace the current machines
