On Sunday, the ride share company announced it's making a major donation to the American Civil Liberties Union, which seems to be a response to Uber's handling of the Muslim ban protests on Saturday.

(7,820 posts)Go Lyft or support traditional cab services if you can. Uber CEO is a Trump supporter and they used NY Cab companies refusal to service JFK airport yesterday in solidarity with the protests to advertise for business. They're a union busting, anti-worker Rights asshole of a company.

(297,322 posts)"The New York Taxi Workers Alliance called for the one-hour strike. Many of its members are Muslim.
San Francisco-based Uber issued a response later, saying
it was not meant to break up any strike. We wanted people to know they could use Uber to get to and from JFK at normal prices, especially tonight.
Lyft also operated during the strike, but managed to escape the backlash. The company has announced it will donate $1 million over the next four years to help oppose the immigration ban.
According to Uber, the companys CEO and co-founder Travis Kalanick sent an email to Uber employees, criticizing the travel ban."

(3,827 posts)Since President Donald Trump signed an executive order Saturday that bans immigrants from seven predominately Muslim countries, The American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU) has raised over $10 million.
That's according to Anthony Romero, the executive director of the civil liberties group. Romero told Yahoo News that in addition to the $10 million, more than 150,000 new members have joined the organization.
The ACLU challenged Trump's order, leading federal judge Ann Donnelly blocked parts of it Saturday night.
