I haven't been here since the election. We are in for a long fight for American values. I'm hoping we can start a list of what people can DO -- if this is a dupe thread, let me know.
Where you can help:
- Join your closest protest for immigrant/American rights
- Donate to ACLU (https://www.aclu.org)
- Donate to State ACLU Chapters
- Subscribe to liberal magazines (Mother Jones, the Nation, Talking Points Memo)
- Donate to Southern Poverty Law Center (https://www.splcenter.org/)
- Encourage personal cybersecurity against state surveillance (https://ssd.eff.org/) -- literally follow the steps in that URL, and tell your friends to do the same
- Run for Office (https://www.runforsomething.net/)
Where else?

Use Facebook to advantage, Trump has an account there but he seems to use the Twitter most, and esp. in the wee hours of the morning when no one can look over his shoulder. THAT's the time to tweet to him.

(61,650 posts)Everybody (except those in DC) has two senators and a representative. Call all three every day. Leave a polite message giving your name and zip code. State that you are a constituent and that you don't need a response. State that you want them to know (brief message about how you want them to vote or speak up about a topic).
Do this every day with a different topic.

(3,892 posts)- ADL is sometimes great, sometimes really off point (e.g. attack on Rep. Ellison). Still, we need a broad tent...
- NAACP - honest question - is it still effective? BLM is much better at putting issues in people's faces, I believe.
- What is a good group for Hispanic rights?
